Yeah, to understand this song, you'll have to listen to the whole album. It's the story of a guy who loves this girl, but when she dies he gets really depressed and cuts himself off from the world. Sort of similar to Pink Floyds "The Wall." This song in particular is sort of a metaphorical way of thinking for the main character. Baron Saturday comes and helps him keep from suicide (He'll show you the grave Of someone who was saved From living their life in a year He'll show you a grave Of someone who was saved From taking his life with a knife). But this only keeps him alive and he is unable to achieve happiness again. |

This seems like it is talking about Jesus coming down to earth. It is asking the question, "What makes you think that God himself would just come down to this imperfect earth?" Is it "just to swim around, to feel the clouds on the way down?" Did he fear "the marching of the lamb" dying on the cross, did he "Find his fear" in his imperfect creation. It's definitely religious sounding. I just cant tell if they are steadfast against it or just questioning it again. |
