Auf Wiedersehen Lyrics

Au revoir, auf wiedersehen
You won't see another morning
You won't see another evening
Good night
Buenos noches o senor
Senorita see ya later
Buenos noches bye-bye
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is a joke
And for you we sing this final song
For you there is no hope
Sayonara oh suicide hari kari
Kamikaze you won't
See another evening
Goodbye
Bye-bye so long, farewell
See you later....Suicide
Suicide
Suicide
Suicide

The attitude of this song (according to the lyrics) is...apathy.

All you depressed people, wanna kill yourselves? Go ahead.

But there's a credibility problem. This apathetic message is delivered with tremendous...passion.

How can you explode with emotional catharsis over something you don't give a damn about?

You can't. It's not possible.

Which suggests an obvious explanation: the song is a pose. They don't mean it. They don't even know what they really think.

But they did know one thing: they thought it would sound cool.

"Don't you get sick of how there's always some do-gooder gently talking yet another emotional car-wreck down from the ledge? We oughtta do something different. Tell 'em to go ahead and jump."

Yeah, like THAT's something no one ever thought of before! Even Van Halen--who'd never win any awards for originality, or intellectual prowess--wrote a song about it.

Why does "Auf Wiedersehen" nod to Dylan, and/or Hendrix? ("There are many here among us...")

So they could hint--to those who recognized the allusion--that the whole thing is just a Cheap Trick?

I always thought this song was about a guy committing suicide...but now think that it is a song for people that are about to commit suicide...I guess sung by people that have already committed suicide. This is one of my favorite CT songs...hellothere is right...the last minute of the song is fantastic...right after the drum roll until Zander screams 'Suicide!'. CT at its finest...

This song is definitely ridiculing suicide. Criticizing people who give up. Many times when I was hopeless and wished I didn't exist, I would play this song loud and just jump around and release all the anger and frustration. This whole album was instrumental in keeping me away from suicide when I was a teen. Rock propped me up and gave me strength when I was a weird kid who didn't fit in. I'm so lucky that my parents accepted that. My Dad was a rocker, anyway. We'd listen to The Stones and Vanilla Fudge and Creedence.

@dansz its a great outlet
