Well, first off I can't believe no one's commented on the best song from Seventeen Days, which has become Brad's favorite 3DD song. I've heard Brad describe this song as the answer to all of the questions that "Away From the Sun" presented, which used to be his favorite 3DD song.
For me this song really hits home with my current situation. I think it means that he was in a place where he didn't know where he was going (described in Away From the Sun) but that Brad's decided to look inward, find himself, ignore all the crap that other people say, and face his fears head on. It's a very powerful song... this song and "Behind Those Eyes" are my two favorites from Seventeen Days.
To me, this song is about overcoming all the problems in life and learning from your mistakes- knowing that you can't keep running, you have to face up to reality. Another fantastic song from a fantastic band. Love 'em!

I think it means that no matter what happens to him, no matter what obstacle or challenge is thrown at him in life he'll overcome it all the meanwhile staying true to who he really is inside. . . Excellent song
I think it's about transition. When we look at ourselves and can't recognize us anymore. We know we are better than this, so we don't stop now until we find a better part of us. We grow up.
It's about overcoming depression and the mental walls one puts up to protect oneself from traumatic situations (eg. abuse).
You try to find a place to hide and you do by making walls so you cannot be hurt anymore. Then the situation passes but they are still there, causing you pain due to the loneliness that such typically brings with it. One day you decide that it isn't worth running from those "long days" anymore, for you can't hide from pain when hiding causes pain and look inside until you find the better part of you again.
It's about a criminal on the run who finally wakes up and realizes that he needs to change his ways before he gets paroled and won't go back to that lifestyle when he's released from jail ("I woke up to the real life and realized that it's not worth running from anymore").
