Be Like That Lyrics
Watching the stars on the big screen.
Then he lies awake and wonders
Why can't that be me?
Cause in his life he's filled with all these good intentions.
He's left a lot of things he'd rather not mention right now.
But just before he says goodnight,
He looks up with a little smile at me and he says
I'd give anything
Just to live one day
In those shoes.
If I could be like that, what would I do?
What would I do?
watching the people as they pass.
And all she wants is just a little piece of this dream, is that too much to ask?
With a safe home, and a warm bed, on a quiet little street.
All she wants is just that something to hold onto, that's all she needs.
Just to live one day, in those shoes.
If I could be like that, what would I do?
What would I do?
I'm falling into this, in dreams we run away.
Just to live one day, in those shoes.
If I could be like that, what would I do?
What would I do?
Just to live one day, in those shoes.
If I could be like that, what would I do?
What would I do?
Just to live one day, in those shoes.
If I could be like that, what would I do?
Lord, what would I do?
I feel I am ... falling in to this again.
my two cents...the first guy, he is the average guy, he moves to cali to try and be famous and what not. simple enough. the girl, she is poor, most likely living on the street. fair enough. but i think some people are missing how they are connected. i believe this song is trying to let us see how we always want more, like the first guy. nothing seems to be enough. the sad irony is that all the girl wants is what the guy already has, a place to live, family, security etc. the girl would do anything to be in the guy shoes, yet the guy is unhappy. pretty realistic if you ever talked to someone in proverty.
@sumoWrestler I think you nailed it. How would you interpret ‘he’s left a lot of things hs rather not mention’?

Gawd, this is the saddest song. I heard it via Youtube for the first time. It's about wanting to belong. The song mentions being on the big screen, but it seems as though there is so much more to it than wanting to be famous; he wants to be acknowledged. And that's a primal need. Incredibly good, but incredibly sad. So moving...
To Live your life to the fullest.
this song has different meanings. The first verse is about self fufillment. He feels he has tried everything to do what he wants but still hasnt gotten there. he wanted whatever so much he even did things he now regrets to get there. The second verse is about a girl who does not have what she needs. things other people take for granted. a safe house a warm bed, something to hold onto. she lives in the park i suppose. maybe shes had these things but it was only temporary, it was never really hers. she needs a family
she dosent want more she NEEDS more. i know what its like to live in complete poverty
"he looks up with a little smile at me..." emphasis on the up, it is someone lying in bed. i take this as someone with a disorder/illness that prevents them from living the life they want to live...
woah seem's like so long since i first heard this, it seem's like the people this song is spoken from want to be living someone else's life
Anyone have a song meaning to this?
This song is about the contrast between what two different people wish they could have for just one day. The man who spends his nights in california "watching the stars on the big screen" (or watching the celebrities at the movies)"obviously leading a simple life without very much accomplishment. "Then he lies awake and he wonders, Why can't that be me" basically saying if they can do it why cant I? he looks up to me and asks (asking god in my opinion)that for just one day he could live in those shoes of someone who matters. "She spends her days up in the north park," Notice how immediately it starts out oposite of the mans verse. Emphasizes the difference between the two. "She watches the people as they pass" Oposite of the man she is observing the common people rather than the celebrities on the big screen.
"And all she wants is just A little piece of this dream, Is that too much to ask With a safe home, and a warm bed, On a quiet little street All she wants is just that something to Hold onto, thats all she needs"
Unlike the man this girl plays an important role in society and is constantly receiving attention. And she wishes the exact oposite of the man. to be normal and to have something to hold onto rather than than be a star on the bigscreen. Great Song!!!
I think that this song is about wanting to be someone else or something more than you are. Maybe your situation isn't what you want it to be or you've done some things that you aren't proud of and you're hoping to be something more or be better than what you are right now.
k dogg that's the best way to put it. I don't think that I could have said it any beter!! anyway gr8 song!!
