I guess I always heard the lyrics wrong, I thought it was about him not being able to be with someone for whatever reason and him coping with it.

I always thought it said "If I could choose a different life, I'd be off with you tonight"

Ive never been so profoundly moved by lyrics that werent even correct

For me this is about a lonely person, who was left by the one he loved, and now he feels so alone that he doenst want to go home because his house is a nostalgic place wich reminds him many things that he did with the person that left. But he cannot follow her because he's fine in his place just a lil lonely but fine.

i love the part after the lyrics are done until the end of the song. that guitar is so nice

She thinks he has some growing up to do, or has a tendency to do things (like flirt with other girls....could be drugs, too, as someone pointed out) that she disapproves of.... It seems these things she hates are beyond his control, or he's simply too stubborn to change his ways. They see things differently, & it's become obvious that they want different things, have different priorities. They'd argued over the same issues repeatedly, until all that was left to do was break up. They tried.

She lingers in his memories & he misses her terribly..or at least their happy times together. He hopes that someday they'll see eye to eye & find their way back to each other. Just not right now. When he sings "I'll see you someday", is it a promise or a wish?

And yes that guitar thing near the end is just too awesome & concludes the story perfectly..

It's about not letting go, still clinging on to the memories as people in the singer's life continue with their own lives. He's digging through the "lost and found" bin of memories.

looks like he didnt really want to stay with this girl. He sais he could change his life(I know i can choose a diffeerent life/and be off with u tonight), but he preferes to hold on the life he has now, though the girl doesnt appove of it(I know u hate this...). maybe he doesnt love her enough but still he keeps on thinking about her, though will never follow her. he just leaves this all till "soma day"

This is either about a guy whose girlfriend died or a guy that's addicted to drugs and his girl's left him because of it... I'm leaning towards the latter. He wishes he could be living a normal life with his girlfriend, but he's not quite willing to give up the drugs yet.
