Keen On Boys Lyrics
Already dead
So kill my head
There's a sun in his eyes
It won't go away
I'm already dead
Why is it I can't kill my…
He would never sleep
Said I didn't mind it at all
Made me feel quite cheap
Looking back on it all
Then there was this kiss
He said that he couldn't resist
And was I aware of what I missed?
That night I slept on his couch
With my back turned to the wall
Nothing assumed but you know?
You know…
In the morning we said nothing at all
All I could think of was this
He said that he couldn't resist
And was I aware of what I missed?
So kill my head
There's a sun in his eyes
It won't go away
I'm already dead
Why is it I can't kill my…
Said I didn't mind it at all
Made me feel quite cheap
Looking back on it all
Then there was this kiss
He said that he couldn't resist
And was I aware of what I missed?
With my back turned to the wall
Nothing assumed but you know?
You know…
In the morning we said nothing at all
All I could think of was this
He said that he couldn't resist
And was I aware of what I missed?

I think this song is about a straight guy who is friends with a gay man. The gay man seems happy with life (a sun in his eyes) & the straight guy (the voice in the song) is not happy & possibly heartbroken (already dead). The line "why is it can't kill my..." may allude to his desire for a certain girl, or women in general.
His gay friend kisses him cuz he "can't resist" and asks him if he knows what he is missing. "Nothing is assumed, but you know" meaning he slept on the couch cuz he was slightly weirded out by his friend coming onto him, but is trying to play it cool.
The next morning they act like nothing happened (nothing was said), but he keeps thinking about what his gay friend said, because his friend is content in life, and he is not content, & so he wonders if he would be happier if he were gay (implying he wouldn't have to deal with girls romantically anymore; like maybe it would be simpler to have relationships with other men).
+1. I like your interpretation of this song a lot. I just wanted to add that it's curious how straight guys think it's more fun for gay guys because things are "easier", but in the end when it comes to emotional issues it's just as hard as it is for straight couples.

Okay, so I love this song to pieces and I finally managed to dig up an interview where the band talks about it. unfortunately, it's in Chinese, so I have to rely on the usually unreliable Google Translate, but here it is: blog.roodo.com/elv51/archives/16512721.html
Cat: how can you be interested in boys? <Keen on Boys> Why not <Keen on Girls>?
J: <Keen on Boys> is a wonderful experience, a male friend fell in love with me, plus my personality will not refuse, almost on that go ...
So there you have it, this song is gay and there's no denying it. Being gay myself it makes the song that much better in my eyes.
The most beautiful song to grace my ears...
The title of the song is actually "Keen On Boys".
WHYYYY is this song so good? And yes, it is Keen On Boys. Anyways, sounds like a gay theme going on. In the first verse, he sounds like he's ready to give up. Very hopeless and dubious. Then it sounds like a male figure came into his life. And... You know... Maybe I'm looking at it too simply, but there we go.
i dont think its a gay meaning at all. (and even so it doesnt matter!!) i think it's about a girl who stays over and a guys house.. obviously the situation means alot more to her than it does to him.. 'Nothing assumed but you know? You know…' it's like being in a stiuation where you want more from the other person than they want from you.. and in turn it can make someone 'feel quite cheap'. And now it is like she is numb to this situation but she can't help liking him.. 'Already dead So kill my head There's a sun in his eyes' i don't know... that's just my interpretation about it. anywayyyy Its a very say song, no matter how you interpret it.
I see the first verse as being an after-the-fact reflection of the whole situation. He sets up his confliction, then tells the story. I think it has more poignancy because it's a male voice singing, adding to the gay undertones. I mean, "Why is it I can't kill my..."; "Nothing assumed but you know..."; "And was I aware of what I missed?" I think it is very much homosexually based. But it could still be from a girl's perspective, and it's still one of their best songs and lyrics. I absolutely love this song. My favourite line is "Nothing assumed but you know..." Love it.
xD I'm addicted to this song, I'm addicted to footballslash and I'm a writer too...So when i read the lyrics of this song for the first time I tought that this song is about a gay relationship...But also, the song could still be from a girl's point of view...It just that if you read only the lyrics(without the tittle) you can imagine that...But if you read the whole thing, then you think that this song is about homosexuality
I love this song. Great song. I am wondering where its says "Nothing assumed but you know? You know… " does that mean that they slept together? Because if it does then I think that he used her. She is sad because she really likes the guy. Nothing happen between them.
He was over at his friend's house, they were both drinking. He has a thing for his friend, but his friend is straight - or so his friend says. "Why is it I can't kill my…" basically means, why can't he kill his own curiousity? "Then there was this kiss/He said that he couldn't resist/And was I aware of what I missed?" basically means, they kissed. But, since he was so drunk he doesn't remember a thing.
