The Ballad of Naked Man Lyrics

Naked man, Naked man
Passing through Naked land
Naked man, Naked man
In the sand where is your hand
Naked man, Naked man
Please go back to Naked land

Naked isn't a sometimes thing.
Naked is an all time thing.
It's not the size of the dog in the naked.
It's the size of the naked in the dog.
Naked on a Monday
Naked all year long
Naked is never right
Naked is always wrong
So get the hell away from me
You god damn naked man
Go the fuck away from me
Back to Naked land

Naked man, Naked man
Passing through Naked land
Naked man, Naked man
In the sand where is your hand
Naked man, Naked man
Please go back to Naked land

Naked man in Denver
Naked gasoline
Naked isn't dirty
Naked isn't clean
Naked isn't fun
Naked isn't nice
Naked lasts forever
So roll those naked dice
Naked in the morning,
Naked all night long
So c'mon let's make it naked.

Years ago, I had a buddy who was several years older than me. Our daughters were the same age, and they were good friends, and so that is how we'd started hanging out. Eventually, we got pretty close. Now, this is the guy who turned me on to BHS in the first place, and one night when we were pretty deep into a bottle of something or other, he told me about a BHS concert he'd been to, back in his younger days, where he'd jumped up on the stage, and when security tried to get him down, he just got naked in an attempt to get them to leave him alone. This was a very long time ago now, and I don't remember the rest of the story, but I always wondered after that if that incident could have provoked some of the inspiration for this song.

The first spoken lines are a reference to Vince Lombardi's famous speech which opens: "Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all time thing."

The lines just after those are a riff off the saying by Mark Twain, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog."

The "naked man in Denver" line is a mystery to me.
