Fashion Coat Lyrics

In a fashion coat I float down my city.
Don't you think I look pretty anymore?
I'll do everything to you but I can hardly come
cause I'm so afraid of you falling

I die fast in this city
outside I die slow

I'm not stupid I swear
I read the foreign news to understand my nation
you get two options in the U.S. states:
black city bloodbath or white country rape

I die fast in this city
outside I die slow
I die fast in this city
outside I die slow

everywhere I am is just another thing without you in it
(repeat)

i love that line... "everywhere I am is just another thing without you in it" i think the line changes a bit after its repeated.. and it brings a bit of a lonely tone. Its like its about someone who is lost in this crowd, or a big city.. and in that crowd your life just passes you by so fast. and you remember the people in your past that you loved. i wish this song was a bit longer :-/

It's a neat comparison between inner city and the country...(Obviously) a black city bloodbath I assume is like a shooting in the ghetto or similar, then you have rural rednecks raping each other... Maybe hinting at an outsider's perception of the US... rednecks and thugs and violence in common?

Oh yeah, and in a city you might just get shot or mugged et cetera, a quick death, and in the country, you grow old, but your mind might die (boredom & idleness leading to sin) ?

Doesn't it mean: I drive fast in the city. Outside I drive slow.? I always imagine that he is just driven around, being somthing like lost. And because he can't see any hope he he doesn't see the need for acting normal.

You'll die slow in the outside, in the country. You'll die fast in the city, or on the inside. Either way the person couldn't care less, they're stuck between a rock and a hard place 'cause no place makes them happy without the one they love. So they might as well just die. Fun song =P

On the specific lyric 'I'm not stupid I swear I read the foreign news to understand my nation you get two options in The You Estates black city bloodbath or white country rape'

I think it's a joke. He's saying how 'not stupid' he is, and then misunderstands US states as you estates, and then says something only an idiot would believe. There are two ways to interpret the joke though, it could be made by the speaker, and he understands the idiocy and is making fun of it to this woman, OR it could be by Matt making the speaker look like an idiot, implying it was one of the reasons the woman left. I'm not yet sure which.
