The Truth About Heaven Lyrics

Walk past my grave in the dark tonight,
Saw the stone and the note you left for me
To answer your question I just had to leave
I just had to leave

But that's not why I'm here
I came out here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long
I want to find you so bad
To let you know I'm miserable up here without you

Found my way back in the dark tonight
Couldn't wake up, not right next to you
I traded forever to just hear you say the sound of my name

But that's not why I'm here
I came out here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long
I want to find you so bad
To let you know I'm miserable up here without you

Don't believe that its better
When you leave everything behind
Don't believe that the weather is perfect
The day that you die
Don't believe that the weather is perfect
The day that you die

I came out here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long
I want to find you so bad
To let you know I'm miserable up here without you

Don't believe that the weather is perfect
The day that you die

for those of you who don't know, the entire album is a concept album. He writes a suicide note in the hidden track (called the suicide note) which is actually before car underwater(you have to start it, than hold the rewind button to go into the negative numbers to hear it) than he actually commits suicide in car underwater, but realises he didn't apologise for being such a burden, and he would still die for his girlfriend. and then he goes to heaven in the truth about heaven, but he doesn't like it, so he trades in forever to go back to earth to see his girl. but she can't hear him, or see him. but they both are miserable without each other, and he tells her not to kill herself, because death sucks. then in remember to feel real, he says i'd wait it out for you, saying he would wait until she died to be with her again, if she could wait, and "don't give up, believe". and the only reason he is there is because of her"there's nothing here for me but you". than in awkward last words he realises that he really hates death and "i wanna live again" and he wishes he could start another life with her. and how he "never had the gift of holding on to you". then he tells her "holding your head up is hard when you just want to stay on the ground" because he misses her and life so much and just wishes he could go back and live. then he says"of my 50 years left I'm just waiting around put your heart on your sleeve and watch me pull it down " saying he is going to wait for her to die so he can see her again. then he starts to practice flying in a quick little flight, and he kinda spy's on her through her window and it says "Can you see me through your bedroom window? Are you waking up your friends to watch with you? Can you see me at all?" then in the more you talk the less i hear its aboutwhat did i say? why do you give a shit? theyre trying to pry into my brain but im gone im running down highways til i see your face i just need to see you now i just need to see you now i dont care about anything else i dont care about anything else" and also "theres strangers up ahead, holding up a knife trying to keep, trying to keep me away from you" which is about how he is still following her but someone was sent from heaven to try to make him go back (the stranger). and he just needs to see her and doesnt care about the strangers. then in basement ghost singing he is in her basement so the strangers go away and he is just there so that he can be close to her. and than he sings her a song, and thinks she heard it and asked for him to keep singing. then he gets depressed again and feels like a burden again "I'm gonna close my mouth now You don't need more noise in your life I miss you more than you know But I know time makes you move on". then in walking at night alone he talks about how he is walking with her at night, but she doesn't know, and she goes to where they first met. and then he says don't leave me along i can't stand the way the world feels when i'm walking alone. and how his love is a mess but when its gone, he doesn't feel alive. then he kinda really realises that he is dead and says that you can't turn off that you are dead in i have been right all along. and then he thought he was dreaming when he died and he has this feeling that he was meant to be there for her. then he see's her whole life and see's the damage he did to her and he feels really bad about that. then The ghost of what I left behind Is dragging me right back next to you. and then finally in the end of a fraud he realises that he can't stay here and he says "i'm leaving again for the second time alright you better believe that this was all just a joke to me and as i look down on them i repeat these words in my head they never heard one sound out of my mouth they never heard one sound it's all pretty clear but when i left you all stayed the same now i think i believe that i was never alive in the first place" kinda getting down on himself, saying that he wasn't such an improtant person, and nobody really was affected by his suicide and how nobody listened to him in life, but still didn't in his death, which is why he said he believes he was never alive in the first place, and the only person he affected at all was his girlfriend, which is kinda sad, but as his last message he says "don't believe that the weather is perfect the day that you died" telling his girl that she shouldn't kill herself to be with him, but she will be better with time. seriously the deepest album i have ever listened to. thats the way i interpreted it anyways, and i bet most of you will agree. think about it.

i think this song kinda describes when u become famous... you think things will be better, but you miss everything and everyone u left behind.

I'm going to sum this song up.

The guy killed himself by driving a car into the water (Previous Car Underwater song from album) and now that he's up in heaven, he misses her and heaven is not all perfect in its perfectness without his true loved one...Hence the chorus. Rain is a symbol of depression obviously. He's depressed/miserable he can't be with her.

"I came out here to tell you it rains in heaven all day long, I want to find you so bad, to let you know I’m miserable up here without you"

To me, it sounds like, wherever you are, even in such a good place, or at least one you love or you think you could feel good (as heaven), you can't feel entirely happy ("it rains in heaven all day long") if you're not with the one you love :) that's why i really believe, wherever you are, if you're with the one you love, everything will be fine...

This song seems to go hand and hand with Car Underwater...almost like the aftermath of it. "To answer your question I just had to leave" makes it sound like the death was by choice. The guy is regreting his suicide, and it's making him miserable to be away from the one he truly loves. Miserable to the point where it rains in Heaven for him, Heaven...the place that is supposed to be pure bliss.

no kidding? isn't that the whole point of a concept album?

It's saying that even though he's Heaven, he's still miserable, because he's not with the person he loves.

"it rains in heaven all day long..." this is such a sad song, and it gives me chils every time i hear that line. armor for sleep is extremely artistic.
