The Point Of No Return Lyrics

Don Juan (the Phantom):
You have come here
In pursuit of your deepest urge,
In pursuit of that wish which 'til now has been silent
Silent...
I have brought you
That our passions may fuse and merge.
In your mind you've already succumbed to me,
Dropped all defenses, completely succumbed to me.
Now you are here with me, no second thoughts, you've decided
Decided...

Past the point of no return.
No backward glances,
The games we've played 'til now are at an end.
Past all thought of 'if' or 'when'.
No use resisting;
Abandon thought and let the dream descend.
What raging fire shall flood the soul?
What rich desire unlocks its door?
What sweet seduction lies before us?
Past the point of no return,
The final threshhold.
What warm, unspoken secrets will we learn
Beyond the point of no return?

Aminta (Christine Daie):
You have brought me
To that moment where words run dry,
To that moment where speech disappears into silence
Silence...
I have come here,
Hardly knowing the reason why.
In my mind I've already imagined our bodies entwining, defenceless and silent,
And now I am here with you; no second thoughts, I've decided
Decided...

Past the point of no return.
No going back now,
Our passion play has now at last begun.
Past all thought of right or wrong.
One final question:
How long should we two wait before we're one.
When will the blood begin to race,
The sleeping bud begin to bloom?
When will the flames at last consume us?

Both:
Past the point of no return,
The final threshhold.
The bridge is crossed, so stand and watch it burn.
We've passed the point of no return.

too bad Christine picked Raoul eh? this song should have made it obvious that she should be with the Phantom. sexual love over true love. beautiful. and to the people who hated the movie: Andrew Lloyd Webber himself helped picked out the cast so that has to say something. he's a music genuis and i'm betting he saw something in Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum since he wanted them playing the Phantom and Christine in the movie.

When the refrain of this song is song with rauol in the phantoms lair i get chills up my spine the intent of the song becomes so sinister and wonderful. michael crawford is so good. i didn't really like the movie that much, i just thought that they made phantom too good looking.

quitejaded -

Clearly, not jaded enough.

Gerard Butler was terrible for the part, and any true Phantom lover knows that. Michael Crawford is the god of this musical.

And for anyone still wondering... It's about sex.

This is a very beautiful, emotional and powerful song with a very deep meaning.... Though I must admit the Michael Crawford version is much better since his voice probably is better than Butler's. It has various adult themes if you understand the meanings of the lyrics

Actually, I thought that Butler was a pretty decent Phantom. He was certainly not the singer that Crawford (or any other major-musical-caliber leading man) was. However, I suspect that - no matter how much of a genius one might be - a lifetime living in catacombs and sewers (not to mention some small amount of stress during the events of the musical) might well lead to some amount of roughness of voice. In that sense, a less-talented singer adds some measure of verisimilitude. In any case, why don't we try to keep snobbery to a minimum?

And indeed, the song is clearly about sex. It's most beautiful and erotic.

This is tied for my favourite Phantom song with "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again"..Point of No Return is sexy and passionate. They are two people who have let down their guard saying "screw everyone! I love this person!"

just an fyi, when he wrote the whole musical it was intended that he and his wife play the phantom and Christine, but then they got divorced so no more of that plan. i just wish i could have heard THAT version
