Sweat Lyrics

This ray of sunshine looks right out of place.
'When all my skies are full of black and gray
I’ll learn the lessons as they’re sent my way.
The pain is real but I will suffer for it
So I pray
Ohhh yeah, yeah.

Bottle my anger up and seal my fate.
I ask for nothing self-contained,
And for every unassisted breath I take
I’m reminded of the fear I forsake, I forsake!

In the silent shadows growin’
Grass is green, and rivers flowin’
In the darkness something changes
As a culture reawakens.
Black thunder clouds are gatherin’
In the silence they are laughin’
Feel the comfort coming now
The pain is gone away

In the darkness bodies gather
Fire burns and ashes scatter
Sing a song of celebration
To the beings of creation
In the darkness understanding
Black cloud now hanging
They’re a part of everything
The pain has gone away

Cover art for Sweat lyrics by Breach of Trust

This is my favorite Breach of Trust song. I found the Dead Issue EP in a pawn shop and was excited because I love the song Family which I saw on Much Music and Sweat instantly became my fav BOT song.

I think this song is about Aboriginal spirituality. The lines "I'll learn the lessons as they're sent my way. The pain is real but I will suffer for it so I pray" and "Sing a song of celebration to the beings of creation" reflect spiritualism. The theme of the song revolves around nature which is very prominent in Aboriginal spirituality.

I would love to hear an Aboriginal interpretation of this song because they would have an understanding of the symbolism nature has in this song.
