Come closer now
I know your desire is to be desired
Steal a kiss and, and call us friends
Distance is a thief in which you conspire

Turn and time and time will tell
Time will tell or tear us apart
You're miles and miles and miles away
Silence reveals where we really are

You only stayed to break my heart
I can tell it by the way you runaway,
Runaway girl
You only stayed to break my heart
I can tell it by the way you runaway,
Runaway girl
Runaway, runaway girl

It's clearer now
You're nowhere into giving
Giving into, giving into me
It's your fault
You're like a rare disease
I know you're in love
With love I believe

Turn and time and time will tell
Time will tell or tear us apart
You're miles and miles and miles away
Silence reveals where we really are

You only stayed to break my heart
I can tell it by the way you runaway,
Runaway girl
You only stayed to break my heart
I can tell it by the way you runaway,
Runaway girl
Runaway, runaway girl

Do you expect me to wait here?
(All alone in my thoughts and fears)
My whole life could flash before your eyes
(Hope one day that you realize)
This isn't the way it's supposed to be
(This is your life, girl, now without me)
May regrets for us well up inside
(As feelings for you are buried alive)
Buried alive

You only stayed to break my heart
I can tell it by the way you runaway,
Runaway girl
You only stayed to break my heart
I can tell it by the way you runaway,
Runaway girl
Runaway, runaway girl

I only stayed to break your heart
You can tell it by the way I walk away,
Runaway girl
I only stayed to break your heart
You can tell it by the way I run away,
Runaway girl

i think it's about a girl who leads a guy on (hence "steal a kiss") and the guy has feelings for her but the girl is more so just playing around with his emotions. she might have feelings for him but i think she is afraid of getting into a serious relationship (the "you're in love with love i believe" makes it seem like she likes the idea of it, but can't actually commit to a relationship) the whole "do you expect me to wait here?" part is kind of like the guy is hoping she'll smarten up and come around and actually commit but he knows it won't happen because his "whole life could crash before your eyes" in any case, the girl keeps just "running away" and leading him on and he knows she's only going to break his heart also, "it's clearer now, you're nowhere into giving, giving into me" is conducive to that too, he's realizing that they're never going to be in a relationship. and then at the end where he says "you can tell it by the way i run away" its kind of like he's basically saying he's done with her head games and she lost her chance with him.

Its "You only stayed to break my heart". Its stayed not stand. How does stand make sense? Plus if you listen it doesnt sound like stand it sounds like stayed.

I think it's about a girl that he wants to be with, but she only sees him as a friend. And he's saying that he can't wait for her to come around, because he's gonna break.

i think its about a girl who says their just friends but loves the game of love... (in love with love) and acts like their more than friends when they're together, but there is some distance between them (miles) and because she doesn't communicate when they are apart, he knows she will break his heart.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
