Nighttime Lyrics
I think it happened at nighttime
A cold rain drizzled down from space
Hiding tears from streetlight eyes
I saw the same familiar face
Something pseudo tv love
A mixed up girl who's something of
A fairytales romantic dream come true
She breaks my heart and blurs my eyes
Her love is never easy
A magic made for tragic minds
And thinking back I should have known
That she could see right through me
And I would end up on my own
Gazing through my window
She glittered like the starlit rain
Whispering tales of broken hearts
She told me things would never change
There was only so much words could say
We closed our eyes and dreamed away
And for a time our love was almost real
She breaks my heart and blurs my eyes
Her love is never easy
A magic made for tragic minds
And looking back I should have known
That she could see right through me
And I would end up on my own
A cold rain drizzled down from space
Hiding tears from streetlight eyes
I saw the same familiar face
Something pseudo tv love
A mixed up girl who's something of
A fairytales romantic dream come true
Her love is never easy
A magic made for tragic minds
And thinking back I should have known
That she could see right through me
And I would end up on my own
She glittered like the starlit rain
Whispering tales of broken hearts
She told me things would never change
There was only so much words could say
We closed our eyes and dreamed away
And for a time our love was almost real
Her love is never easy
A magic made for tragic minds
And looking back I should have known
That she could see right through me
And I would end up on my own

It about a break up.. I'm sure "I think it happend at night time" the break happend at night. It was raining and dark when it happend. "Hiding tears from street light eyes" the boy go running off after the break up, he tries to hide tears from the pepole on the streets under the street lights. "A pseudo tv love" he imagined they're love to be like on in a tv show or movie. "A mixed up a girl who's something of.. A fairytales romantic dream come true" he seen her as any mans dream fine true. "She breaks my heart and blurs my eyes. Her love is never easy." After dating her he realizes she isn't a dream come true. They get in fights and she breaks he heart, but this time it's off forever. "A magic made for tragic minds." There love was magical but it was made of tragic things. "And thinking back I should have known that she could see right though me, and I would end up on my own" after the break up he thinks back to how she could see through anything he did. He knew it wasn't going to workout. "Whispering tales of broken hearts" she whispered tales of break ups to other pepole and he thought that she could be talking about there relationship. "There was only done much words could say." He tried to say 'I love you' as much as he could but it didn't work they still broke up. He loved her but she didn't love him. "We closed our eyes and, dreamed away.." They always dreamed of good futures but it didn't turn out good.
That's just my interpretation... I'm sure it's about a break up maybe not exactly like that though. Gotta love it though. I love this song. <3
this song is about complicated lesbian love. it felt like a fairytale at first, but it was hard to hold onto and ended up breaking one of the girl’s heart. the other girl’s love was never easy and looking back, the she realizes it was never gonna last. it was this magical tragic thing and in the end she ended up alone. it’s a deep, strong love that wasn’t meant to be
This is one of my favorite songs. I'm surprised no one has written about it yet.
This song reads almost like a story, the way most do for me:
"I think... from space" In the beginning, two lovers meet on a rainy night. One of them breaks the relationship with the other. "Hiding tears... face" The other was obviously stunned. Even though she's crying, she tries to hide it. The "same familiar face" refers to that of the other lover. "Something pseudo... come true" The "pseudo tv love" refers to the fact that the love they had wasn't real... at least not to a certain degree. The next two lines describe the lover.
"She breaks... never easy" This describes the love that the two had. It would have been one of those stressful relationships you hear about in High School. "A magic... my own" The girl must have known that it would end like this ("thinking back I should have known") & ("I would end up on my own"), but she continued on because she was addicted to love, and couldn't let go. ("A magic made for tragic minds") One line in this song kind of bugs me... ("That she could see right through me.") Normally when you can "see right through" someone, you can tell that they're lying or doing something for their own purposes. Maybe the girl was "using" her lover just to not be alone.
"Gazing through... starlit rain" Just like a story, this song has a "flashback". She's thinking back to when they met. It was on a rainy night just like the one they broke up on. "Whispering tales... never change" Her lover assures her, when they start the relationship, that they won't end up like everyone else (broken up and miserable). "There was... almost real" Just like in real life, there is only so much you can convey with words. The rest can only be understood by those who think alike. In the beginning, it worked very well, but then they understood that it wasn't right after all.
i love this song!
This band has come so far from this song to 2007, but they're now missing the childlike imagination and innocence they had around the time of songs like Nighttime. It's a blessing and a curse.
to me, this song is about falling in love with the idea of being in love and the heartbreak that results from it.
"Something pseudo tv love" - pseudo means fake and TV shows always idealize everything.
"A mixed up girl who's something of A fairytales romantic dream come true " - the girl sounds almost too perfect to be true.
"A magic made for tragic minds... she could see right through me And I would end up on my own" - their love was doomed & the girl knew the person didn't really love her.
"Whispering tales of broken hearts She told me things would never change" - the girl tells the person their relationship isn't working and never will.
"There was only so much words could say We closed our eyes and dreamed away And for a time our love was almost real" even though they're love wasn't real, i don't think either of them wanted it to end, so they pretended it would work out.
but in the end, the person ends up without the girl anyway.
I think the first verse is describing a girl, one of those super-betches... really generally. I think the overall song is from a guy, or another girl's point of view on this wacked up relationship.
Coming back to this years later, I'd say yeah, this song is almost like it's being read from a guy's journal about this fake-love situation.

i think the song is about a girl going insane. she starts seeing her own face everywhere and falls in love with her, even though she knows it can't be real. This imaginary vision of herself returns every time she is alone and crying, at night. She escapes with herself - which is like a magic made for tragic minds. She whispered to herself that things would always be this way, she would always be insane. But her second mind keeps on meddling with her life and complicating things, getting more difficult to hide - the repeat. To me, the song is like a story of a girl's conversation with herself. i really love imagining the atmosphere of each scene. this song is one of my favourites.
I think my interpretation makes no sence :D But then again, i never really knew the first verse properly. The song seems a lot different without it. I like greggor's interpretation (which is probally a lot more like what it was ment to be)
