Land of Confusion (Genesis cover) Lyrics
(This song was originally done by the band Genesis, but In Flames did a cover of it on their Trigger EP.)
I must’ve dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They’re moving into the street.
Now did you read the news today
They say the danger’s gone away
But I can see the fire’s still alight
There burning into the night.
There’s too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can’t you see
This is a land of confusion.
This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth living in.
Ooh superman where are you now
When everything’s gone wrong somehow
The men of steel, the men of power
Are losing control by the hour.
This is the time
This is the place
So we look for the future
But there’s not much love to go round
Tell me why, this is a land of confusion.
This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth living in.
I won’t be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We’re not just making promises
That we know, we’ll never keep.
Too many men
There’s too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can’t you see
This is a land of confusion.
Now this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for.
This is the world we live in
And these are the names we’re given
Stand up and let’s start showing
Just where our lives are going to.
Been haunted by a million screams

Best cover. Period.
"this cover version is awful, the disturbed one is alot better."
no way man.. this version is fuckin amazing
seems to be some sort of protest song about the cold war.. oh well this is just a cover so wtf :)
" protest against the cold war? what are you talking about?. "
Someone hasn't heard the original.
thats genesis....sorry about that:)
In Flames are supposed to make your ears bleed, it's what the Gothenburg sound is all about. I guess we all have different tastes though, I enjoy this heavy harsh version. :)
I like the In Flames version because the instrumentals are so much better than the genesis version. And the vocals have more feeling in them than Disturbed one. They sound more...desperate. Anyways, I love still like disturbed, I just don't like their cover the best.
And as for Genesis, they're the same group who wrote songs such as "illegal alien" so while they get kudos from me for writing this song, they could have made it better.
this is great cover of a great song, period. the IF guitars kick ass, and it almost sounds punky
In Disturbeds version it sounds like he's vodeling, and the guitars aren't as good. In the version Genesis does, it's just......boring to listen to. It's slow and there's not as much there musically.
This is a great cover. It's what a cover is supposed to be, a band's own interpretation of the song.
I don't like how quick the "Too many people, making too many problems" pre-chorus is, but the rest is excellent.
Disturbed's version is almost completely different, but is brilliant in its own right.
