Love and Attraction

Definately. I am the same way. It seems as though you, Darren, and I are one in the same. I cannot just randomly throw myself into a physical relationship without a clause or reason. It doesn't make sense to me. I have to be passionate and have reason to believe it will work.

Such a sensual and strong song. It's funny it's one of my most quoted songs ever, and how can I relate to it. I've been involved in a relationship where the "attraction" was so strong, but it had little love in it...And you find yourself thinking, I need more than "that", but will you ever find it? Cause it's just like Darren says "I do not want anyone, anyone who really wants me, everyone that I desire... wants to be with someone else, I find it so amusing..." Isn't is funny the way we are so into somebody that just doesn't care about us...and we let go other chances because you're simply not so-attracted to them? I've sensed it, I'm still sensing it and wondering if those things "love and attraction" will ever be together for me as well.

Yes, such a great commentary on this song Gabigs. I love how Darren outwardly just makes fun of the selection processes that we go through for mates or life partners. Everyone knows the feeling of liking someone when they don't have the same feelings for you. Also, everyone may know the feeling of liking someone until they begin to like you...then it's almost as if a switch turns off in your head, you all of a sudden may not like them anymore. So interesting, and it definately is amusing to watch and be a part of. Although, it's obviously frustrating as well. It's such a great song though because yes, it is quite worrying to know if you'll ever find a relationship where feelings of both love and attraction are reciporocated. And if and when we do, it just goes to show that it's something special, because it doesn't happen everday.

Thanks Misseverus, I love your commentary as well. I still feel the same way, but I'm even more screwed up, I guess. I'm more into the "are you a friend or a lover, now pick one or the other". I guess we feel what Darren say because we are quite deep persons...I just wish right now I could do like most people do, they just live their lives sleeping around without caring too much. But I just can't and I wish I could though, I'd feel much better about my life and probably have much more fun... But I guess something like that happens to Darren as well...he lives the process, but it leaves it dissatisfied as well...he wishes for something deep and is tired of the shallow stuff in love.

I feel like both of you, and I guess this is why I love this song as well. I love that Darren sings about loving someone that doesn't want you, not just love that's gone wrong. The line "Are you a friend or a lover, Now pick one or the other" makes so much sense. If you've ever tried to love a friend so much that you couldn't tell the difference from love and attraction, you will understand this. Sadly how love can break and attraction can break friendships.
