Waterloo Sunset Lyrics
Dirty old river, must you keep rolling
Flowin' into the night
People so busy, making me dizzy
Taxi light shines so bright
But I don't need no friends
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset
I am in paradise
Every day I look at the world from my window
But chilly, chilly is the evening time
Waterloo sunset's fine
Waterloo sunset's fine
Terry meets Julie at Waterloo Station
Every Friday night
But I am so lazy, I don't like to wander
I stay at home at night
But I don't feel afraid
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset
Flowin' into the night
People so busy, making me dizzy
Taxi light shines so bright
But I don't need no friends
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset
I am in paradise
Every day I look at the world from my window
But chilly, chilly is the evening time
Waterloo sunset's fine
Waterloo sunset's fine
Every Friday night
But I am so lazy, I don't like to wander
I stay at home at night
But I don't feel afraid
As long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset

Well since I posted it I might as well make the first comment. This is a cover and was previously unreleased, it came on on the best of that was released this year. I can't memba then name of the original band who made this song but I beleive Def Lep do a gr8 cover of it. I think the songs about how a guy is stuck at home, and wants to get out, but can't because of this sunset that's keeping him in, he is happy as long as their is the sunset, so doesn't need anything else, not a women, or friends, the sunset is is happiness.
This song was origianally sung by an English group called The Kins
Sorry, typo, they are called The Kinks
I've said it before, and I'll say it once again. The Kinks were great, but my God, Def Leppard covered this song in such a way that only they can do!!! Long live the greatest 'BAND' in music history!!!!! Way to go boys!!!! 30 years + and still rollin' strong!! Peace out!!!!
And when their new album Yeah is released (hopefully) this year, this will be on it as well as a load of other covers they've done!
This song is so sad and lonely, but it is great! 'Terry and Julie' reference British actors Terrence Stamp and Julie Christie, who were a real-life couple while filming 'Far From the Maddening Crowd'(1967). This song represents the feeling of a depressed person staying home, alone, dreaming and fantasizing about the people he sees coming and going from the tube station. He makes himself content with a sunset, but Waterloo station is as ugly as any industrial area. Claiming he "don't need no friends" is what really gets me, because the line infers that he has no friends, or that his friends have betrayed him; maybe both. Anyway, it was an interesting choice for Def Leppard to cover, kind of an obscure original by the Kinks (at least here in the U.S.) and I really like it.
