Running The Guantlet Lyrics

What are you wanting from me?
Look over my shoulder as much as you please.
We're primed and we're ready to go toe to toe with disease.

And what are you hoping to see?
Would it set you back if I drop to my knees?
We're running the gauntlet and filling our socks with debris.

And what kind of game shall it be?
If I played any faster, my tendons would freeze.
And the boys in the back room are charging exorbitant fees.

Gay sex? What the hell is wrong with you people?

This song is clearly about performing on stage. "Running the gauntlet" is a reference to the courage, talent and endurance it takes to get up in front of hundreds of people and play original music. It's about the expectations of the audience for you to play your best, no matter what the conditions are, and that people who pay for a concert don't tolerate mistakes.

Anyone who has ever played on stage knows that it takes a lot out of you, especially if you play as hard as Les does. He's playing so hard that his arms cramp up and his knees might buckle, and while the band is playing their heart out, the "boys in the backroom" AKA the managers, producers and venue are charging huge fees that the artists see only a fraction of.

I think that's why the live version off of Live Frogs is so drawn out with all the solos. It's a musician's song, about musicians and trying to put on the best show they can.

do you have something against the L.G.B.T.?? or just gay sex??

No. In fact politically I fully support gay rights. I just think this song is clearly about performing, not illicit homosexual prostitution.

Unless Les himself was quoted explaining the song as a reference to gay sex, I think that interpreting it in such a way is a huge stretch, and you guys need to get your minds out of the gutter.

alexicity had it, that it was gay prostitudes sex. '' What are you wanting from me? Look over my shoulder as much as you please. We're primed and we're ready to go toe to toe with disease.'' meaning that you want somone or just to have sex badly but your ready to take the risk of getting aids, and you take that risk over and over again. ''And what are you hoping to see? Would it set you back if I drop to my knees? We're running the gauntlet and filling our socks with debris.'' You maybe use or not a condom but deside to use anal without it and your semen goes in the buttocks or the condom. ''And what kind of game shall it be? If I played any faster, my tendons would freeze. And the boys in the back room are charging exorbitant fees. '' Dont do it too fast or i will get a orgazm too fast and that i dont want, some are chargin it fore money.

Just fore the record i like womans. But great song.

Lmao at the interpretations, I agree with Hylonomus. "If I played any faster, my tendons would freeze." I play nowhere near the speed that Les does and my tendons feel like their gonna freeze or lock up

On a side note the song sounds vaguely similar to Over the Falls. Doesn't change the fact that it's an awesome song.

The live version by the Brigade is so good and is about 5 times longer and 100 times better. Now to me I feel like this song is about gay sex.

I think its about shear unbridaled joy, THC, apathy, and male giaglows giving oral sex in the bathroom and les whanting to join the ranks of the gigalow,"drop to my kneese." possably anal too, OH WHAT A DANDY SONG EH?
