Red Dust Lyrics

Dust gets red, and red dust plays
On the wind near Daniel's place
Danny's sick and smaller boy
Rhythm lingers on and on
On and on, on and on

Dust gets dead the sun gone down
Danny's boy lies in the ground
Guitar on the dead boy's chest
Devil's granting a last request
Play on and on, on and on

I think this song was written as an excuse to jam out with Calexico. Besides that, it's probably about a sickly child whose only friend is a guitar. I don't know, it's just a great tune to jam out to.

no, it was written way before "in the reins"........ there's a version with just sam and the acoustic guitar on the sea and the rhythm EP (much earlier) otherwise one of my favorite songs by iron and wine

Sorry, ikefox...

You are wrong. I checked all the tracks on "sea and rhythm" and the lyrics for Red Rust were nowhere to be found. Is Red Rust a hidden track or what? I think it would've been listed otherwise.

I have Red Dust as track three on The Sea and The Rhythm, but amazon says The Night Decending.

This Red Dust track does exist with Calexico, but I'm not sure where it fits in.

Er, "with and without" Calexico

My apologies to you both...are there two releases of the CD then?

don't be dumb. of course there is more than one release of the CD. try using Google. And ikefox said it was on the "EP (much earlier)," ie it is not on the later release. think with your brain, not your mouth (metaphorically speaking).

well, i was mistaken too. there is a 2002 version of the song but it's actually on the rare "Tour EP". http://www.gerpotze.com/ironandwine/ has it listed. a friend gave me a copy and mistakenly labeled it as the sea and the rhythm. sorry about that. but if you can find it, that version is better in my opinion.

there is a demo version ...and the In the reins version with calexico/.... I ignore any other version that was recordered live.
