Circles Lyrics

Pacing around in circles
Talking to himself
He could see teh beauty there
Talking to another one

She came to see our city
She came in the dead of the night
I tried to introduce him
But she got scared and ran away

They came, thousands from far away
They came a sunny day
I tried to introduce him
Now I'm talking to myself
I tried to introduce him
Now I am the one talking to myself

This song is about friendship between boys or maybe brothers. The verses take you through their life together. First they are young and innocent with not a care in the world. Then they are a bit older learning about life but still under their parents eye or not fully adults. This is represented by the reference to the big light. Then they reach adulthood and support each other through life. In circles of friendship and support. Then the last verse is that he knows they will be friends until they die. It seems intentional that this verse does not have " on, and on, and on and on" It is a beautiful song of friendship that started as children and lasted a lifetime. It is amazing hoe he captures each stage of life. Great song.

@Sharann so it is basically about Rhett and Link. I have so many feels right now...

I love this song, it's eerie and beautiful. I don't have a clue what it means though. But it reminds me of my ex-girlfriend.

could be about an introverted dude "Talking to himself He could see teh beauty there Talking to another one" "anders" tries to introduce him to ppl, but now is anders who's talking to himself

All of Anders lyrics leave so much up for interpretation, they can really mean a lot of things to a lot of people. To me, it could almost be about expressing yourself. 'He' could be just the inner part of the singer. The singer build up the courage to express himself, to introduce 'him' to the others:

Pacing around in circles Talking to himself He could see teh beauty there Talking to another one

The singer wants to show this other side of himself.

She came to see our city She came in the dead of the night I tried to introduce him But she got scared and ran away

She did not come to see him, she is just visitor passing through. The other side of the singer frightens her.

They came, thousands from far away They came a sunny day I tried to introduce him Now I'm talking to myself I tried to introduce him Now I am the one talking to myself

Now after showing all these others, the other side of him is just too uncomfortable with being exposed. Leaving the singer unable to express this other side of himself, left talking to himself.

As I said, it leaves so much up to how you look at it, which I love about Anders' lyrics.

I think he's thinking about when he was young and how fun life was, how easy it was. They just went somewhere, had some fun, went back home, and fell asleep. He sees life as a circle I think. We circle also around each other. It's hard to explain how I see it though. At the end he's talking about how when we get older, we get wrinkles. Then we die and they'll throw our ashes into the wind.

I just have to say, if you don't know who Rhett and Link are, look them up. This song is litterally about them. This song to me is about two best friends or brothers (aka Rhett and Link). They carve their names on the clocktower door. It sort of represents a pact. The clock tower is representative of time and eternity so carving their names on it is sort of like a vow to stay together for eternity. (Like rhett and link's blood oath). Big eyed boys means they are innocent and looking towards the future. Salt on our skin makes me think of sweat, but idk... Throwing their kites to the wind is symbolic of their dreams for the future. The kites flying on and on suggests that they are still dreaming get or still have those dreams. As they grow up, their relationship looses it's intimacy because they have to put on personas for the rest of the world. The big light is the people who look in on their relationship (aka rhett and link's viewers). Torch=flashlight. Flashlight suggests sleepovers and ghost stories. Again, their relationship is missing the intimacy it used to have. The line about soap on the skin is relating to the line about salt on the skin. So I assume that they are washing it away? Again, I'm not sure particularly what that means. Dreaming on is the same thing as throwing the kites to the wind. They are circles because they always find their way back to eachother. That also explain the line about going in and out like the sea. When the torchlight thins is when they loose the child within. When the clocktower is gone means when the "pact" is over and they loose their connection. When the big light dims is talking about when people stop looking in on their relationship. (For rhett and link that would be when the loose viewership.) they will have grown up completely and have wrinkles. They throw their dust to the wind is talking about spending ashes. It means they will die. But I think they song means to say that they will be a part of eachother forever and that they will stay together to their death.
