My favorite Earlimart song, by far. The duality of the music is so outstanding.
It's just wow. Espinoza actually found a way to improve on Elliott Smith. He's got the same voice, similar lyrics, but an even more dynamic sound.
A relationship that is over, because they both didn't tell the truth to each other. I guess the lyrics should be: 'And the songs, they are the key'. That's what I thought: the only times he tells the truth is trhough his songs. Really nice song, I like Part 2. too
Beautiful and sad. I wish the lyrics left the door open a bit more for reconciliation.
I would add after “I tried to tell the truth,” “I’ll try to tell the truth,” then “I’m trying to tell the truth.” As if he’s thinking about giving it one last try, then he’s giving it one last try.
But that’s just me, because I don’t like things to end on a downer note. Even if the downer note makes it a better song!
