Jari wrote this when he got tuberculosis and had to have part of his lung removed-
"20% of the time I spent in the army was really great and 80% was fucking bullshit and a waste of time. I guess the experience didn't affect me musically at all, but you never know, maybe in some subconscious level. I'm little bit bitter because I suspect that I got tuberculosis from the army that was discovered later on - actually too late. It got really bad and I needed to have an operation where they removed a part of my lung. I was hospitalized for months and it was a really dark time of my life. Actually, that is what the song "Beautiful Death" is about. So hey, maybe it did have some effect on me musically/lyrically after all. :)"

Obviously it's about a guy dying before he's ready. The greater message is that life is short, live it up.
Dawntreader said it right, the backmasking is "Only way out is through the window of dreams." I kept thinking he was saying "through the window of trees" o_O Didn't even occur to me to check the lyrics!

I love this song. The best part is where it breaks down to only the synth and he whispers "Nothing could have prepared me for this"
I very much enjoy that part too. Though it's probably common knowledge anyway, I should add that there is backmasking at 1:52 in the song's duration (right after the line "Nothing could have prepared me for this". I think it is merely for emphasis, as it is the same as the fourth line in the second verse (with the only difference being the word 'the' is added): "Only way out is through the window of dreams". I could be mistaken, but this appears to be what is being said. That is the cool thing about backmasking; it doesn't always have...
