So Nice So Smart Lyrics

I was quiet as a mouse
When I snuck into your house
And took roofies with your spouse
In a nit and out a louse
Lice are lousy all the time
They suck your blood drink your wine
Say "shut up" and "quit your crying"
Give it time and you'll be fine

You're so nice and you're so smart
You're such a good friend I have to break your heart
I'll tell you that I love you then I'll tear your world apart
Just pretend I didn't tear your world apart

I like boys with strong convictions
And convicts with perfect diction
Underdogs with good intentions
Amputees with stamp collections
Plywood skimboards ride the ocean
Salty noses suntan lotion
Always seriously joking
And rambunctiously soft-spoken
I like boys that like their mothers
And I have a thing for brothers
But they always wait til we're under the covers
To say "I'm sure glad we're not lovers"

You're so nice and you're so smart
You're such a good friend I have to break your heart
I'll tell you that I love you then I'll tear your world apart
Just pretend I didn't tear your world apart

I like my new bunny suit
I like my new bunny suit
I like my new bunny suit
When I wear it I feel cute

Okay, I think I've really interpreted this quite differently. To me it sounds like she dated a really great friend who then broken her heart who thinks that she should

"Shut up and quit your crying, Give it time and you'll be fine.."

And I think the chorus is a sarcastic imitation of how her friend/ex treated her.

"You're so nice and you're so smart You're such a good friend, I have to break your heart Tell you that I love you then I'll tear your world apart Just pretend I didn't tear your world apart"

To summarize bluntly, I think it's about an ex who thinks you should just "get over it and pretend it didn't happen"

I don't thing this song is meant to be intensely analyzed as a whole. One theme (that of the chorus) is that of the potentially heartbreaking experiences opposite sex friendships can bring about. Her male friend likes her and she likes him too, but she respects him and feels like she would not be good girlfriend -- she is not capable of loving him the way he deserves to be loved. She might be able to throw herself into someones arms whom she cared little about because if she doesn't care about how he feels. She is not willing to take this chance with her friend because she cares about him too much to potentially break his heart quite badly. So she's hurting him a little now but saying no in hopes that she won't break it worse later, but she likes being his friend and hopes that won't change.

"I wrote this one for a very good friend that I felt very wronged by. I put it on an album, and then he was super-hurt by it. So I felt bad and he felt bad and we patched things up. I have never played the song live. We let it fade away. And now here it is on this soundtrack. Weird. He texted me, though, and told me he saw the movie and said it was OK to hear the song. It has new meaning now."

I may be wrong but i think this is a reminder to us(men) that they(women) feel free to do as they please, toy with us all they want & or only alternative is"shut up & quit your crying" obviously not all women (or men for that matter) think the same. I like it cause it reminds me of the danger involved when seeking a significant other

"I was quiet as a mouse when I snuck into your house and took roofies with your spouse" - She's brilliant....

She said that she hates it if someone would come up to her and call her a genius, because she writes and records these songs from bed, aha.

I feel this song is pretty straightforward, but then I'll listen to it, and bits of it won't make sense with other bits, so I've given up. :D

Great song, nonetheless.

when i first heard this song, the lyrics were the one thing that really hit me. it reminded me of having strong emotions for a close friend, but not being able to tell him because since he is "such a good friend" that telling him would break his heart for your sake? as a kind of empathy for not being able to feel the same way, his heart would be broken.

I believe this song means that she's afraid of love, but the boy is "so nice, so smart" that she agrees to date him anyway. Instead of embracing the love, which she is in, she acts as if it is not real, because she fears it.

ive had a similiar experience
