Woohoo! first one to comment. katies voice is absolutely beautiful in this song. It's obvius to me, its about a breakup. The feeling of missing someone and realisng that they are never going to come back.

I think its one of those songs about those times in a relationship where u go "I think we should spend some time apart and see other people" and the protaginist (katy) is realising that she actually wants to be with the guy and missing him but realising that it might all be too late...

I think its definitely about relationships as well... but I dont think she's so much the protagonist tho...b/c the line "you'd be a fool not to know that you'd be missed" but she's got her eyes open to love in the general world, and knows what she's missing out on.

but then again, it seems as if there are a lot more meanings to the song as well....

i think its about a woman who feels like shes in an unequal relationship... wants to not be the only one making an effort... growing with someone

"i tune into love and see it all start to crumble" it can hurt when you really let yourself feel how much you love someone...we can cut ourselves away from how we really feel

It seems to me that she suggested the break, and it allowed her to see how much the other person really meant to her. And she's sorry for pushing him away. Sorry for thinking she could go on without him. But the time apart allowed him to see that he COULD go on without her. He's been thinking that she doesn't want him, or need him. He thinks that if she could just leave like that, she won't miss him. She wants him back, but he's shutting her out because he doesn't want to be hurt again. "You'd be a fool not to know that you'd be missed."
