Danger Of The Water Lyrics
The beginning of the disaster
Was difficult to spot
The speed of your reaction
Too slow to make a difference
Far too slow to make it stop
Got everything together
And sailed it down the river
You said it was relaxing
Then you disappeared forever
I cannot remember
The times we were together
Perhaps it's just the water
Pulling both of us under
Now there's nothing by the river
Your washed up umbrella
Not enough to make a difference
Not enough to make it stop
It cut through the water
As we watched it getting closer
And you said that it would soon fall down the drain
You said it didn't matter
But then that is you all over
And the danger of the water
Meant it wasn't worth the bother
Danger (danger)
Water (water)
Danger (danger)
Water (water)
Danger! (danger!)
Water! (water!)
Danger! (danger!)
Water! (water!)
Was difficult to spot
The speed of your reaction
Too slow to make a difference
Far too slow to make it stop
And sailed it down the river
You said it was relaxing
Then you disappeared forever
The times we were together
Perhaps it's just the water
Pulling both of us under
Your washed up umbrella
Not enough to make a difference
Not enough to make it stop
As we watched it getting closer
And you said that it would soon fall down the drain
But then that is you all over
And the danger of the water
Meant it wasn't worth the bother
Water (water)
Danger (danger)
Water (water)
Danger! (danger!)
Water! (water!)
Danger! (danger!)
Water! (water!)

could be about a creature from the water, such as an alligator or shark. the 'it cut through the water' line reminds me of jaws...
This is one of the best songs on their CD. It cuts the album in half, stopping it for an interlude, and provides one of the most gentle statements on the band's outlook on love and life. It's only right that Carnival Kids (the best of the CD) follows right after, providing a one-two punch of the best the band can offer.
Yes, this song does cut the album in half, a soft melodic thing, but I just still can't figure it out. Probably cuz I'm all hyped up on Mountain Dew.
I don't think it's complicated, it's just a metaphor for a relationship failing suddenly without either person seeing it coming. You look back in hindsight and you see why things went wrong, but it's still something of a blur.
Yep, relationships can come and go as quickly as a flash flood.
although im not sure if its true, i heard this song was actually about someone they know dying in an accident. If this is true, it explains much about the lyrics (self explanitory) and the fact it is the 7th song on the album is also significant as i believe the person lived or died in/from the seventh floor. whether what i said is true or not, its a haunting and excellent song, one of the best on the album in my opinion
I love the Futureheads, but when I first heard this and the Danger (Danger) Water (Water) bit came on, it scared the shit out of me!
very eerie song, cool on its own, but strangely eerie if you start to think a bit...
