The Swan Song Lyrics
Winter has come for me, can’t carry on
The chains to my life are strong but soon they’ll be gone
I’ll spread my wings one more time
Chorus:
Is it a dream?
All the ones I have loved calling out my name
The sum warms my face
All the days of my life, I see them passing by
In my heart I know I can let go
In the end I will find some peace inside
New wings are growing tonight
Repeat chorus
As I am soaring I’m one with the wind
I am longing to see you again, it’s been so long
We will be together again
Repeat chorus
The chains to my life are strong but soon they’ll be gone
I’ll spread my wings one more time
Is it a dream?
All the ones I have loved calling out my name
The sum warms my face
All the days of my life, I see them passing by
In the end I will find some peace inside
New wings are growing tonight
I am longing to see you again, it’s been so long
We will be together again

This is a really beautiful song, and a lovely finish to the Silent Force album. I really like the instrumental version of this, it seems to have more strings in it which increases the beauty of it. It has a really nice celtic feel.
to me this song means when a person realises there life is over and they are looking back over there life and remembering there family and friends and all the things they are leaving behind
Whenever I hear this song I think about my cousin. He was very sick for a long time before he died. For me the song is about a release from life and pain into peacefullness.
A Swans Song comes from the story of the mute swan, that when it died, would finally sing an unbelievably beautiful and mournful song. The term is used for exceptional final acts of people. The lyrics and feel of the song really show that well.
And yes, The Swan song and A Dangerous Mind are a great ending of The silent Force, they carry the heavy, cold atmosphere of the album.
It's called "The Swan Song" because a person's final act or effort is often referred to in that manner. (Taken from the old belief of the Mute swan singing right before it dies).
Evanescence's "Lithium" has nothing to do with Nirvana's. Amy is using lithium as a metaphore for numbing or repressing one's feelings (good and bad).
to me i think it kind of means, like a person who is about to commit suicide.
"winter has come for me, can't carry on the chains to my life are strong, but soon they'll be gone"
when she means winter, to me she's talking about i guess the "winter" in someone's life. like there's no hope or the person feels so helpless.
"In my heart I know I can let go In the end I will find some peace inside New wings are growing tonight"
to me that's like by killing themself, the person will finally be at peace.
but that's just what i think.
i think it's about someone who's going to sacrifice themselves for something but they're in a way all right with it because they've suffered so much and they lost somebody in the struggle who they hope to be reunited with after death, where it says 'we will be together again' makes me think she's looking forward to death cos she'll see them again.
and the Supernatural episode Swan Song feels very based on this song too
i think they have "stolen" the title of the song from ayreon. ayreon was a very big influence of WT in their early years.
like evanescence took the title lithium from the nirvana song. amy lee was a very big nirvana fan
