Nothing but a mudpie
Wrapped up inside with pretty bow
Nothing but a castle
Built on top of strong quicksand
And inside these cardboard walls & saran wrap windows
Lies a rusty pot of fools' gold
That you got with your life
Are you tired of being wrapped up on loyalty
Are you trying to make yourself act like royalty
Until the day you became his praise
As you tripped over your red carpet
You wash your hair in that luca oil
Then you wrap your head up with tin foil
and prance around in your bathroom
Pretending you're a king
Just spin me home
Sinking fast
Stir now
Well you can follow your rainbows
and I will follow the sun now
Wherever he goes
It's not too far to run
So I will follow the sun
Follow the sun
Nothing but a calendar hanging on your wall
That's 23 years old
Nothing but a for sale sign on a house
That's already sold
Trying to crew through that
Chocolate covered barbed wire
'Cause they're among the beautiful filth
Waiting for you on the other side
Just spin me home
Sinking fast
Stir now
Well you can follow your rainbows
and I will follow the sun now
Wherever he goes
It's not too far to run
So I will follow the sun
Follow the sun
Follow the sun
Follow the sun
Follow the sun
Clever lives end up rusty & forgotten
Brilliant minds end up with Alzheimer's
What I thought was so deep ended up so hollow
and what I thought had meaning
ended up so shallow
And you can follow your rainbows
and I will follow the sun now
Wherever he goes
It's not too far to run
So I will follow the sun
And you can follow your rainbows
and I will follow the sun now
Wherever he goes
It's not too far to run
So I will follow the sun
Wrapped up inside with pretty bow
Nothing but a castle

"Clever lives end up rusty & forgotten Brilliant minds end up with Alzheimer's What I thought was so deep ended up so hollow and what I thought had meaning ended up so shallow"
This part really speaks to me, I think he's talking about how so many things are fake, or are without meaning, and how so many things end up worthless and wasted. ie: how people are fake and how so many people waste their lives by doing nothing.
I agree with you, but i would also add: i think he's singing about how everything is so worthless and meaningless, things for which he once would maybe die, seem now so shallow to him, and the only true meaning he finds in God. And I think that this "sun" thing has been wrong written. I read somewhere else the same lyrics and it says "Son", what makes more sense when he sings about it, and when he say: "..I will follow the Son, wherever He goes, its not too far to run, so I will follow the son." Don't you think that that makes more sense? I mean, how can he say: Wherever sun goes, wherever HE goes. If it would be sun, then would it also be "it", and not "he". That's how I see things pretty much.. :)
p.s. and yeah, "Son" refers to Jesus :)
I found a few other little typos...it's a pet peeve of mine when lyrics are wrong, though Lifehouse lyrics can be hard to interpret...anyway...
Just spin me home Sinking fast Stir now
I always thought this part went like...
But your spinning hole Sinking faster now
I dont know it really could go both ways I guess and ...
It's not too far to run So I will follow the sun
I thought the run was walk and obviously the sun is probably the son referring to Jesus
Trying to crew through that
Shouldn't that be chew? I assume that's just a typo. and lastly..
Clever lives end up rusty & forgotten
I think lines fit's in there better but I guess it could also mean lives but are lives really clever?? then again Jason's lyrics are nothing but unique. That's one of the reasons I love Lifehouse/Blyss.
I agree Abby =)
