Wake Up Exhausted Lyrics
i wake up exhausted
it's not morning
it's back to sleep
to re-dream me
we're alone and
we're happy
but there you are
angry with me
are you alright
i can't stand up straight
are you alright
can you get me off your mind
i hated this city
before you came here
so let go
and move on
we're strangers
we're not friends
i hate this
and i hate them
this city's exhausted
and it's wound up
soon to be a place
that's just filled up
and i find out
that you're angry
and you're sorry
you ever met me
it's not morning
it's back to sleep
to re-dream me
we're alone and
we're happy
but there you are
angry with me
i can't stand up straight
are you alright
can you get me off your mind
before you came here
so let go
and move on
we're strangers
we're not friends
i hate this
and i hate them
and it's wound up
soon to be a place
that's just filled up
and i find out
that you're angry
and you're sorry
you ever met me

This song is perfect to listen to when you're waking up for school. Every morning.
this song to me is a break up song, told from the perspective of the person ending the relationship. they love the other person, but know that it won't work for whatever reason. in dreams they were happy together, but in reality they were a mess. a toxic relationship that was bad for both people involved. the author realized this first and ended things but they still care deeply about the other person. they want to know they are alright and moving on with their lives. but they know they can't reach out and ask those questions.
i like this a lot. i can feel what she is feeling.

I think this song has to do with a break up. "its back to sleep to re-dream me" she's saying she's dreaming of the person and they are in love and okay. "but there you are angry with me" but in reality her lover is angry with her. She's having a hard time dealing with it and she comes to find out her lover hates her and regrets meeeting her....yeah?
This is exactly how the relationship i'm in is. pretending everythings okay in my mind, but really everythings a mess.

I think it's a complicated relationship, obviously they used to be together and now the narrator in the song has done something to make him/her "hate them" the way people "hate" (but not really) the person they are hurt by. I love "Are you alright? I can't stand up straight. Can you get me off your mind?" Days blur together and are exhausting when you are regretting something and missing someone so much.
I feel like there was an intervening force in their relationship, something the narrator had control over. "We're alone and we're happy" making it more apparent that it was something outside of them, and then later in the song "I hate them". Beyond that, she's feeling some weight on her sPossiblyhoulders, guilt perhaps. In that she can't stand up straight. She feels tremendous remorse for her actions because it is the other that makees the city tolerable. In that same stanza we see the wedge that was driven between them "we're strangers, we're not friends." Indescretion would also warrent the hatred felt by the significant other and the inability to stop thinking about the narrator.
It's a sad song. Because so often, even without some indescretion, this is the way relationships end up.
