The Acrobat Lyrics

Well the child is an acrobat
And he walks along the wire
Knowing well that he might fall
Still he climbs up higher

And if he should slip
He will surely die
And his body will break
And he sure will fly
Into the night
Where the spirits scream
He will leave this world
And become a dream

Well my father was a sailor
And he lived along the water
Knowing well that he might drown
He sailed beyond the harbor

And if he should fall
He would surely die
And his body will sink
And his soul will fly
Into the night
Where the spirits scream

He will leave this world
And become a dream 2x

Nothing will change
Nothing will change

Nothing will change
Nothing will
Change

When the top goes by nothing will
Nothing will
Nothing will
Nothing will

My love she is my saving grace
She holds me through the winter
Knowing well that I will leave
Still she holds me closer

And if my heart should break
But I will surely die
And my blood will flow
And my soul will fly
Into the night
Where my spirits scream

I will leave this world and become a dream 3x

Good song....I think it's talking about how despite the risks he still tries, because that's what living's all about. If he fails, well then he'll die but he'll be free as he is now.

This song is a musical and lyrical masterpiece. It makes my heart explode when I hear it. If you like this, you would probably also like "Break So Easy".

I don't think it's sad. It can be used as a metaphor this song, but i think it's better when interpreted literally. it's like a fairytale. In fact it makes a beautiful fairy tale.

just about the risk this acrobat takes and after and before each circus show he just imagines what would happen if he were to drop, maybe he even feels like sometimes he wants to drop- just cause he has the optin to be so high up, you know? his wife is his saving grace for the all the risks he takes in his life.

oops forgot, it's not just from the perspective of the acrobat. i meant to also say that this son is from the viewpoint of seeing those you love take risks- like the fisherman too.
