We're back there and the heartbreak came
Yeah it hit me pretty hard
I waved hello and goodbye
to the ghosts on the boulevard

Well oh, oh my baby
Your so sweet it makes me cry
well oh, oh my baby
your so sweet it makes me cry

Your so sweet, your so sweet
your so sweet, i wanna cry

la,la,la,la,la
la,la,la,la,la

la,la,la,la,la,
la,la,la,la,la

well i dealt with the dog face hunny
just try to sympathize
well he turned and looked at me
with his cold debaler, red, dry clean eyes

oh, oh my baby
your so sweet it makes me cry
well oh, oh my baby
your so sweet it makes me cry

your so sweet, your so sweet
your so sweet, i wanna cry

la,la,la,la,la
la,la,la,la,la

la,la,la,la,la
la,la,la,la,la

your from my love
I is leavin
check it out
not coming back

the downtown trains
are teamin
screamin
all down the track

There is a terrible taste
always torn from the chemicals
he's gonna split his blood
all over the whole wide world

your so sweet, your so sweet
your so sweet, i wanna cry

la,la,la,la,la
la,la,la,la,la
la,la,la,la,la
la,la,la,la,la

la,la,la,la,la
la,la,la,la,la
la,la,la,

la,la,la,la,la
la,la,la,la,la

you´re so sweet, you´re so sweet you´re so sweet, i wanna cry

    la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la

    la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la

your former lover is leaving check him out not coming back

the downtown trains have taken his screaming all down the track

There is a terrible taste on his tounge from the chemicals he's gonna split his blood all over the dull white walls

you´re so sweet, you´re so sweet you´re so sweet, i wanna cry

    la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la

this is one of my favourite songs and i still cannot fully work out its meaning.my best bet is that its meaning is a lot darker than a standard love song. something to do with someone being supposedly "so sweet"but having this capacity to completely and permanently psychologically mess up people they have relationships with. he wants to cry and the "former lover" committed suicide. this may be complete bull but its the way i understand it.

Actually, i think the lyrics are

We're back there and the heartbreak came Yeah it hit me pretty hard I waved hello and goodbye to the ghosts on the boulevard

Well oh, oh my baby You're so sweet it makes me cry well oh, oh my baby you're so sweet it makes me cry

You're so sweet, you're so sweet you're so sweet, I wanna cry

    la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la

    la,la,la,la,la, la,la,la,la,la

well I dealt with the dope fiends hunny just trying to sympathize well he turned and looked at me with his cold, dead, blood-red, drag queen eyes

oh, oh my baby you're so sweet it makes me cry well oh, oh my baby you're so sweet it makes me cry

you're so sweet, you're so sweet you're so sweet, I wanna cry

    la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la

    la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la

your former lover is leaving checkin' out not coming back

the downtown trains have taken him screaming all down the track

There is a terrible taste on his tongue from the chemicals he's gonna spit his blood all over the dope white walls

you're so sweet, you're so sweet you're so sweet, i wanna cry

    la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la

    la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,

    la,la,la,la,la la,la,la,la,la

I think he's talking to girl, who he loves but she's still part of her druggie ex-boyfriend's life and he used to be part of that crowd and he's tried to help the guy too but its no use. I think he is trying to help her see that the druggie guy is too far gone, that no one can help him, and he's in so deep that he won't come out, his addiction is going to kill him. and as much as she wants to think otherwise, or give the guy a sexond chance, she'll just keep getting hurt. i think the "you're so sweet i wanna cry" is him talking about how she's put up with so much and he loves how caring she is but it makes him want to cry because he knows its hurting her to keep trying to help her former lover.

im horrible at this stuff, but thats kind of what i got out of it.

This is a great song, one of the best from the OC soundtracks.

I took it as his relationship with drugs and possibly a girl that influences him away from drugs.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
