The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh
Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh
Everyone else has had more sex than me
Does anyone else get that feeling?
Teenagers, naked, couples in threes;
Grandparents swing from the ceiling;
Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh
Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh
Corporate capers and office amour;
Shenanigans outdoor and in
Resist, and then later you find out there's more
Regret in not doing the sin.
All loves have to die - of that there's no help;
My favourite way to end em'
Is the orb-weaver spider's, whose pedipalp
Enters the female pudendum,
Then dies on the spot, his corpse there still stuck,
Left for his rivals to curse it.
He would rather die than not get to fuck:
Personally, I reckon it's worth it
Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh
Does everybody else get that feeling?
ohhh ohhh
Everyone else has had more sex than me
ohhh ohhh
Does everybody else get that feeling?
Whoa ohhhh ohhh ohh

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
This song is great- and reminds me of myself, since I'm 19 (closer to 20) and a virgin.
Yup. But It's cool- the song I think it refering to the recent human infactuation with sex everywhere- teens, viagra, herbal crap- and damn catchy!
Recent?
I agree this is a great song. Kind of 80s-ish, but very good nonetheless. The video with the bunny rabbit is hilarious and yet also sad.
Oh man, that music video is SO cute.
The video made me cry at the end. Poor bunny. This song explains how I felt during my teenage years.
I agree. It does sort of have that 80-ish sound to it.
this band is an actual band? they play shows and everything?
@monticello they were quite popular in Australia. I saw them live once and they were a riot. Two band members spend the whole time dancing on stage (or stage diving, or running through the crowd naked). They all wear balaclavas too.
fuck oath they are real. ive been to two live shows and they rocked the socks of me. if you have never seen em live youre only seeing 1/3 of tism. gold gold gold!
I first saw the animated video on Ebaumsworld.com (which I recommend to everyone in earshot). Good stuff. Sometimes, this song just gets stuck in your head.
u can also see the bunny video here...hilarious!
