blah blah blah americans are stupid and we don't like them, except i guess it's cool when they buy our music and come to our shows

well since nobody's commented on this yet.. i'll just say that they obviously don't seem to be speaking positiveky about americans.. it's pretty much saying we're spoiled "your daddy's car".. and that we're ignorant "happy when your eyes are closed".. "salt the slugs, keep at bay" could be a war reference.. b/c when you put salt on slugs they shrivel up n die.. so they're probably thinking that we just start wars overseas for no reason.. while we just sit at home layed back stirring up unneccessary problems.. personally im insulted but i love bloc party so it's ok.. i dk what the last two lines mean but that's the best i can do..

the reference to "salt the slugs" is basically saying "you think your better than everyone else"...

I'm sure most americans also hate that type, but it only seems the US that has them.

This just shows the stereotypical americans, how they think they're better than every1 else (salt the slugs) but its actually fake, like putting on an act (happy wen ur eyes are closed). British people dont really like Americans!

i just wanted to let you know..anyone who agreed with this song and to bloc party themselves..this song is completely racist and ironically youre ignorant if youre going stereotype american kids as i g n o r a n t , spoiled, and unruley trouble-makers. Any kid is a trouble-maker..anyone in any country including britain can be spoiled..and let me tell you american kids as a majority may seem ignorant..but as individuals it is up to that person to become aware. and my biggest point it isnt the kids of america especially..and not even the people of america that decide to treat other countries as inferiorities..it is our sometimes stupid goverment. and i will admit our stupid president. but dont think because of a small group of government officials all of america looks down on other countries and their people. if you havnt guessed it already i am american. and i have recently spent a few months in africa on an aids relief program where i have directly helped other people in need. so please consider ending the stereotype of snobby ignorant americans.

racist??? American is not a race. It's a nationality, and one that thinks it's a lot greater than the rest of the world. Bloc Party are outspokenly against the American-led wars and the negative and unhealthy American influence on modern culture. That's fair enough... a lot of people are.

Wow, Brits against Americans. When I listened to this song, I was really saddened. I mean, I was born and raised in Kansas City MO. In America, and half of my family is from the BWI so I deal with Americans 75% of the year and Brits 25% of the year, and I have to say that we are all the same. Some Brits are agressive, pompous, and self centered ("We speak english, THEY speak American") And Americans are too. Don't judge our country by our president, I dont think that Brits are lap dogs like Blair, because they arent. We are all people, you have wealthy people in Britian that act like the valley girls in America. Jesus. Don't hate, please. I luv you
