Black Angel, White Angel Lyrics
We've lost the light another night
Kill these days and make them go away
Skulls on fire
The burning faces know iall hope is gone
Would you lie in wait or
Would you kill your brother
Would you offer out your hand
Then unleash the dagger
You've lost your way among the fray
The blackest days
Are waiting up ahead
Blazing skulls
The burning children know it's all a game
Would you die in pain or
Would you feed the maelstrom
Would you offer up the necessary soul
Kill these days and make them go away
Skulls on fire
The burning faces know iall hope is gone
Would you lie in wait or
Would you kill your brother
Would you offer out your hand
Then unleash the dagger
The blackest days
Are waiting up ahead
Blazing skulls
The burning children know it's all a game
Would you die in pain or
Would you feed the maelstrom
Would you offer up the necessary soul

Great song, but (just like in the cd booklet), the lyrics are lacking the chorus, which I think goes mostly like this:
Black angel, white angel Little darlin' ?ripped? from the razor Dark angel, light angel Come down and lay in the danger Black angel, white angel Little darlin' ?ripped? from the razor Dark angel, light angel
That should be correct.
how bout like this Black Angel white angel kneel down and lift from the razor? Dark angel white angel Come down and lay in the danger Black Angel white angel kneel down and lift from the razor?
:: Listens to song closely ::
Sounds like
Black angel, White angel Kneel down and lick from the razor Dark angel, Light angel Come down and lay in the danger Black angel, White angel Kneel down and lick from the razor Dark angel, Light angel
This song to me is talking about good and bad in everyone (Black and white angels). And how hard times are ahead for us all, and we'll think it's just a game. Then we'll realize it's not and make choices (Feed maelstrom, offer up your soul, etc.)
I'm pretty sure Danzig wouldn't write a song that didn't at least have some biblical or mythological undertones.
The dark angel is likely Cain and the white angel his younger brother Abel. I believe this song is assimilating various interpretations of the story of Cain and Abel.
There are also vampire-related overtones, particularly in the first few lines, and in the last few (as interpreted by the White Wolf RPG Vampire The Masquerade in which Cain offered up a blood sacrifice of the thing most dear to him, Abel)--"die in pain, or feed the maelstrom."
Do some research, see if this interpretation lines up for you as well.
I actually thought it was "Kneel down and lip fuck the razor", seriously, and that IS what he said live at a concert I saw but he could have just changed it for the crowd.
He always writes, multi-meanings, always religious or evil and good, black and white, symbols of opposites extremes, and that is what I like about his words. or the end of life, Etc. and he always writes about Biblical things so jakensine is right about that stuff.
Its about war..
It's about the dual nature of man, good and evil.
