Milk Lyrics

Salty leave , salty leave

tell me the one about the friend you knew
and the last good night that we toasted too.

Salty leave,
stay for me, stay for me

We drank wine in the matinee
and the spotlight showed what I chased away

Stay for me

She saw my comb over, her hourglass body
she has problems with drinking milk
and being school tardy
She'll loan you her toothbrush
she'll bartend your party

Kill me, kill me

I called and called, but I can't get through,
said he's on his own, but his own is you

Kill me

yeah, I think you guys are reading way too much into this. like cardiaque said, it's about a girl he was dating in la, and what I take from it, is that the song is just a description of how she is so a-typical and magical. all of her quirks. she's late for school, she doesn't like milk, she's really sweet and wholesome (she'll loan you her toothbrush) but then she's not afraid to have fun (she'll bartend your party).

Actually it says "salty beef" not "salty leave." And "steak for me" instead of "stay for me." And "killer meat" not "kill me."

This song is about Caleb's vegan girlfriend and how much he does not want to become vegan.

lol.

”salty leave” refers to tears or a tearful goodbye. caleb is talking about a girl who left him. the descriptive parts: her “hour glass body”, that she “has problems drinking milk and being school tardy” and that she’ll “borrow your toothbrush” and “bartend your party” - all refer to the girl’s quirks and the things that he misses - hence, the “kill~ me”. the “she saw my comb-over” part refers to how she knew of his “flaws” or insecurities and presumably, was still okay with them. the ending of the lyrics: “said he’s on his own but his own is you” - i think is caleb referring to himself in the third person. he said he’s on his own but for him to really be him he needs her.

love.... love will tear us apart

possibly the "she had problems with drinking milk" lyric could have something to do with the girl being lactose intolerant???

jesus christ would people please talking such shit on this ebsite......im sorry scarletbegonianb but that has to be the biggest load of shit i have heard in a long time....people always try to over-analyse songs and try and appear "intellectual"...forget that maternal bond parental authority shit.....this song is just about a fucking girl..... could someone please tell me where in the song there is any reference to parents or defiance or any of the things you seem to think its about....what i do see though, is plenty of references to a girl, a girl who caleb appears to love...and no scarletbegonianb it is not his mother

I think the "she saw my comb-over" lyric does have some relation to caleb being bald. because he said in an interview that he has a receding hair line.

He says it in the next song on the album that he's going bald at a young age.

Am i the only one who thinks the chorus is about a teenage girl? Hourglass body - perfect figure, hasnt lost it to age yet Problems with drinking milk - as you get older you stop being so picky about your food and stuff, y'know. Or "milk" could be sexual, ie semen or something, but im starting to doubt this song is sexual at all. Being school tardy/loan you her toothbrush/bartend your party - typical teenage activities, y'know, still at school, having people crash at house, working at a local bar to earn some bucks, whatever.

No idea how it fits to the overall song...perhaps he had a short relationship with some girl, who took part in his old-guy stuff (going to the matinee and drinking wine and stuff, i dunno i'm not old yet lol), but she got bored and left him ("stay for me," etc) for some other guy ( "he's on his own but his own is you" - to be literal about that, it means the new guy is busy having sex with her lol).

Hourglass body doesnt mean her figure is timeless, it means a figure in the shape of an hourglass.

is it realy typical for a teenage girl to work at a local bar? i dont think so

Actually, I think this song's full of sexual innuendo.

'Salty leave' sounds like a pun on tears and semen. Milk sounds like the latter as well. 'Being school tardy'? What about not liking to rush the morning after? 'She'll loan you her toothbrush' if you haven't got one of your own... that being typical if it's a one-night stand. And taking generic stereotyping to the max, bartending hardly sounds like something a sweet, innocent girl would do, eh?

Ahh, what filthy minds these blokes have.

Spot on!
