3 Weeks, She Sleeps Lyrics
For 3 weeks, she sleeps
Through the rain
I've gotta try, to keep her dry
Or I'm out of ways
Self books, love cooks
Steel her away
Through you know, and where ya go
All in a day
So, la-di-da la-di-da ah-haa
Ohh-ohh-ohh-ohhhh
La-di-da La-di-da ah-haa
Ohh-ohh-ohh-ohh-ohhhh
Through the rain
I've gotta try, to keep her dry
Or I'm out of ways
Self books, love cooks
Steel her away
Through you know, and where ya go
All in a day
So, la-di-da la-di-da ah-haa
Ohh-ohh-ohh-ohhhh
La-di-da La-di-da ah-haa
Ohh-ohh-ohh-ohh-ohhhh

i think it's about a guy and he loves this girl so much, but she's depressed. and she locks herself up and shuts everything out and pretends not to exist. and he's trying to help her by sheilding her from the rain and "steel her away" to keep her safe.
It sounds like she is sleeping through 3 weeks of his "rain" or bad times with drugs, doing them while she sleeps, trying to keep her dry, or keep her out of that part of his life.
This next song was written probably when I was about 18. The jealousy game came into it, and it freaked me out a little bit, wondered who this chick was dating and things like that, so I bought a lot of self-help books to see if they would, and they were all pieces of shit. So I just finally realized that you just gotta do what you gotta do and don't read anybody else's advice."

DISCLAIMER I have just obtained a copy of Justin Furstenfeld's book Crazy Making. It's not very detailed, but it contains all the lyrics to all current (The Answers - Approaching Normal) Blue October songs, and his inspiration behind them. As I said, it's not very detailed, but it's his words on every Blue October song that is in the book. I know everyone interprets a song differently from everyone else, but having the original intent behind the song will be helpful to people who don't fully understand a song. Also, any grammatical errors are not made by me, I'm putting down Justin's words exactly how he writes them. So yea... enjoy :)
3 Weeks, She Sleeps: "Dramatic highschool babbling turns real at 26."
This is an amazing song musically. Lyrically, however... there's where I come upon some stumbles.
What does this mean?
Hmm...this seems like a cool song. I've never heard it, I've never evn heard of the band who sings it. But, it looks good. It's so short. Is it really that short?
I think I agree with disaterfaerie22's interpretation.. sounds like the 3 weeks of "rain" is an episode of depression and him "keeping her dry" is him trying to keep her going and feeling better to come out of this depression
i seen a quote from the lead singer say it was about a girl he liked but she ended up with someone else and he was depressed about it and had to read self help books to get out of that state . it says in this line:
"self books, love crooks steal her away"
The lyrics are actually "I run out of ways Self books, love crooks, steal her away It's who you know and where you go" But, anyway, yeah, it does seem to be about a man struggling to help a girl he cares about through depression.
I agree, 'self books, love crooks steal her away' is about him trying to keep a girl who's going through a short depression. But you wouldn't think that just by hearing it the first time- the music to it sounds so... cute!
