To Them These Streets Belong Lyrics

So look in my eyes, what will you leave behind once you've gone?
you got what you came for now i think it's time to move on
but these ghosts come alive like water and wine and walk through these streets
singing songs and carrying signs,
to them these streets belong

My atonement lasts the best part of eternity
ran out of hands to count the sin that breeds inside of me
not this hate but the loneliness has left me here into this mess of

Head hung from shame we bear a weight that brings me to a crawl
these years of longing tell decades of unwashed calls
for a change, 'cause everyday we slip and fall
kicked while we're down, our fists clench into ball

My hands are soaking in the blood of angels
on broken wings they collapse
dark clouds exploded and torrents of rain fell
all these lost halos wash away

So look in my eyes, what will you leave behind once you've gone?
you got what you came for now i think its time to move on
but these ghosts come alive like water and wine and walk through these streets
singing songs and carrying signs,
to them these streets belong

This song seems pretty clear. Its about standing up for what you believe in, and if your not commited and strong you will never get what you want or leave your mark on this world ("hat will you leave behind once you've gone?". It seems like their using street protesters as an example ("walk through these streets, singing songs and carrying signs, to them these streets belong"). Idk though, that seems to make some sence.

It seems like their best songs have lowest number of comments. I guess that's the way it goes.

Responding to bugmenot, the reason there best songs have less coments is because they are harder to understand. I think this song has more to it than i can ever understand, i only understand a little bit. great song though.

ok these lyrics are wrong. i have no idea what it means really, something like this is where we belong, like leave us alone kinda thing.

These lyrics are just fine, they're missing like two little parts that aren't that important. Go complain elsewhere. For the most part it sounds like a song about heart-break in a very punk-rock way. (AKA throwing in protestors and stuff)

I think this one is my favortie too. The lyrics just stick with me (as said before). I agree with Billy Spleen too. It's just an absolutly great song by a great band.

I think its about standing up for yourself and that protesters will eventually win but I know that theres more to it

it's a tribute song to past protestors, union workers, anarchists, progressives, and the like of the past and present. i think the singer is also frustrated with not being able to do enough in modern day fights. i think the chorus should be read like a conversation. the phrase you've got what you came for now i think it's time to move on, means to me that conservative procapitalists think our protests are a single fight, when in acutality our streets are filed with endless rallies
