Babylon

No idea what this means, but it does seem to have some very heavy references the apocalypse. "Babylon" was a city described in the Bible as being sinful and evil, and in Revelations I think it says something about a New Babylon being created towards the end of the world.

" Now that the thrill of the massacre is over" could be a reference to the rapture.

"I roll back the stone just to see what I'm missing" also has some Biblical meaning, with the ressurection of Jesus and rolling back the stone of his grave.

"Salvation's at hand" could once again refer to the end of the world.

This whole song is really vague and cryptic, so that may be completely wrong.

He's in his hell, and this girl is nearing death.

"Now that the thrill of the massacre is over Isn't it sweet when she sucks on your veins I've waited so long" He has (almost) killed her, and this waiting is torturing him so bad, he's starting to lose it.

"I roll back the stone just to see What I'm missing Glimpses of grandeur now faced with defeat I've waited so long"

Hindsight is 20/20, he wanted this to be a night of sin and pleasure, and now he has a dying woman next to him.

"Now that your kingdom of Babylon's fading where will you turn when you can't find Your soul I've waited so long"

He realized that this life of pleasure he's been leading, has led to his own downfall.

"Salvation's at hand, Its a matter of taste dear Lost in ideals you found in the trash I've waited so long"

Before people get on a IT'S ABOUT GOD, Jeff Martin is an atheist, and the song A Great Big Lie is about the church. Anywho, He could save himself, and he realizes he should but "It's a matter of taste", he knows his ideals are trash, but he doesn't want to do anything about it... Yet... Pulse, anyone?

In the context of a rock opera, the whole album makes a lot more sense... I put an overall plot in the Alarum lyrics.
