Afterglow Lyrics
Just when the days start getting colder
I walk the streets I never knew
There's some words I never told you
The sound rings out like the truth
And if you could see
What's come over me
Then you would know
Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back, bathed in afterglow
As I sit here in this dark room
All I seem to feel is light
I see color, I see the maroon in the blood of this life. . . that's ours
And if you could see
What's come over me
Then you would know
Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back, bathed in afterglow
Watch the sun
It paints an orange sky
Lay me down
And feel the days gone by
Just when the days start getting longer
I walk the streets I never knew
The sun comes out for you
And if you could see
What's come over me
Then you would know
Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back, bathed in afterglow
I walk the streets I never knew
There's some words I never told you
The sound rings out like the truth
What's come over me
Then you would know
Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back, bathed in afterglow
All I seem to feel is light
I see color, I see the maroon in the blood of this life. . . that's ours
What's come over me
Then you would know
Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back, bathed in afterglow
It paints an orange sky
Lay me down
And feel the days gone by
I walk the streets I never knew
The sun comes out for you
What's come over me
Then you would know
Cause I'm walkin' free
The wind at my back, bathed in afterglow

rollingoveryou, if she said it wasn't all about sex, then it isn't all about sex. She wrote the song, you didn't.
Well, I have no earthly idea what made you think it's about sex. Prehaps you're just a perverted 13-year-old person who thinks everything revolves around people getting naked. But, anyways, I'm not perverted, and I think it's about a girl who's sitting alone in her room one night and realizes that the guy she thought was the only reason to live was actually the only reason not to live, and she goes out walking the streets in the middle of the night, thinking about how she forgives him for being cruel to her (I think he was abusive),but she knows she'll never go back to him.She realizes that he dfidn't have a right to hurt her, and he can't take away any of her light and make her life dark. Then she sits down in the middle of the sidewalk, just watching the sun come up, thinking about what a beautiful life she can have, and how he did not demolish her dreams. That's my two cents. That's just how I interpret it.
i REALLY like this song...some people on the nessa message boards really DON'T like it..and i don't see why. my fave part of this song is :"Cause I'm walkin' free The wind at my back, bathed in afterglow " this song to me is about how one day we are put down but something all of a sudden happens and we feel happy once again....its such a great feeling and emotion! :)
xoxo kandie NESSA ROX! PEACE
i think this song is alright, definitely not her best.
it reminds me of those cold winter nights when you ponder your existence and your relationships with other people....nice song...
I like this song a lot, but I like the 'Watch the sun, it paints an orange sky. Lay me down, and feel the days gone by.' the best.
i think its about her now no more b.f or soemthing but on ehr own & telling somone that look at her now & how much she changed then look at her past
Well, you know. Obviously you don't know about it. Look at the lyrics, there was a big discussion at the Nessaholics and it's the majority of people that think most of it is. You're going to say a whole group of people are wrong? Nice.
''If she said it wasn't all about sex, then it isn't all about sex.'' You did a good job on manipulating my words. I did say or, and i didn't say, OMGHOTIT'SALLABOUTSEXOMGOGMGOMO124U82U1
I think this song is about the ending of a relationship..or maybe the end of a night together. ;-)
It seems that the relationship was very complicated and she didn't get to show who she really was through it "there's some words I never told you, the sound rings out like the truth"
The next verse is just saying to the guy, "if you could just see me now...for who I really am"...like the other person never took the time to see the girl inside.
"as I sit here...." is basically thinking about the good feelings she had with this guy..she's still not over it yet and she hopes that they will be together again.
so what do YOU guys think? :-)
At her Nashville concert Vanessa said "This song is called Afterglow, but it's not about sex."
She said that it's about releasing all of your burdens etc when she performed on AOL
Look it up on YouTube and she says something to that extent
