this is one of the greatest song ever written. its a damn shame not many have commented apon it, you should definetly download this one johnny cash's version is equal to if not better than bono's -one love
I love both versions. This version is a great acoustic version and has great soul, but Bono wrote the lyrics and you can really feel the passion in his voice.

My friends and I were talking about how Johnny could take any song and make it good. We thought he could even take "Sugar We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy and turn it into an epic masterpiece.

I think One is one of the best songs ever written... I like the Johnny version better than the original
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Johnny Cash, he's one of the best artists of the last century, but I really don't think this was the best cover of this song. I mean, he makes a good song, but I just think it's missing the passion and emotion of the original. Again, nothing against J.C., but it could have been better.

the first version of this song that i heard was a live one by REM, so that will always be my favourite one, but i was just wondering who it was who actually sang the origional? i always thought it was johnny cash, but apparently not from the comments on this page. please get back to me.
This is a gorgeous song. It's much much better than U2's version. And I'm Irish! I think Johnny's voice really suits a song like this.
