As with many Hanson songs, I think this song can be interpreted in a spectrum of ways. Although not concurrent throughout the song, (mainly in the third verse) I feel that the first two verses can be looked at as talking to a prostitute. It was talked about on h.net, and if you think about it (in your sick, twisted, hanson fan way) it seems to fit. "She'll work it out until she makes the tips," "She doesn't mind when you offend her."
I also think this song can be taken as a guy who wants the bad girl. She's a rebel, doesn't really do the relationship thing, and he's trying to persuade her to "take a walk on the wild side," and get into a relationship.
amazing song! it's the happiest love song they've made. it's about taking a chance with someone and realizing it's okay coz everyone knows you know you can't fight love ;)

This song 1.makes me dance, and 2.makes me think of a Romeo and Juliet kind of love. Like at first he's describing this totally awesome, Mary-Sueish kind of girl, and then the rest of the song, persuading her to be with him, like being with him is a 'wild' thing to do. That was totally the longest run-on sentence ever. Sorry.
Y'all, no matter what this song means to me...they've said it's about a hooker. That's what I get from it too, so I wasn't surprised to hear it. Just think of it being Pretty Woman in song version. That's my bit.
I love this song. It's funny- so many people have different interpretations of it. Others claim to know what it's about...period. An anonymous girl on LJ the other day brought it up when leaving a comment somewhere, and said it was about Michelle Branch. lol I do remember the guys saying it was about a hooker, which made me laugh. lol But, that's always what I got from it too...since the first time I heard the song. I agree with you, Svimmelhet. It strikes me as Pretty Woman set to a song, too.

My version that I've had in my head since the album came out was the girl in question is just a very, big, bright and independent personality and guy friend is in love with her. Perhaps, he's a best friends. Maybe she's a waitress and the guy goes to her cafe/restaurant to see her. And she's really charming and gets lots of tips. Maybe he's been friends with her for awhile and...

Maybe, holding in December was dream he had or being friends he was consoling her over a heart break or something. He's in love with her but she's maybe oblivious of it beyond friendship and this is his song and message to finally let her know and he's got all the ideas and daydreams about it being an adventure. The second verse could be she notices something is different with him, "You look at me like I'll I want's a little free" He's gotten nervous around and she notices he's needs to relax some more. Yup Guy in love with his friend who's a girl. Or it could be a crush from afar but I like the Guy in love with his best friend who's a girl version better. I don't think I'll ever see any different. It's such and innocent song in my head! LOL ha!
