I think this song is about a guy who worships a girl but she's a complete bitch to him. He's singing about a girl who is beautiful on the outside but ugly inside - 'You did it, looking as you are' - I don't think he can quite believe that someone so pretty can be so horrible.

'I told the Devil and the deep blue sea to hide, I thought that you were after them, I was right' - She's worse than the devil and more powerful that the sea, she's out to take on any force.

'But it's a picture I'll always keep in mind, Where you say I've never been even liked, For anything truly mine' - She's been wearing him down, saying that he's never even been liked.

'Now I know, that the world's not waiting for you, nor for me, And I know that the world you hated, won't change' - He's learned that she's not his everything in the world and that he's not hers and he's saying that she's bitter and that will never change. I think the lyric in the listing is wrong, it should be what I've written here....

The song ends with him saying 'Now you're gone, I stand on my own' - He's alone now that they have split up but he's able to 'stand' alone even after all she's put him through. She's gone from his life and he can move on.

dang. that has really ruined the song for me. to me it was about how he loved this girl and she left him, but while she was with him it was wonderful and she saved him... and hes wondering how she did it and still looked so beautiful. cant believe its about plastic surgery!! lol

I guess it's about a guy " the singer" who love a girl can't be owned by anyone , she love to be free... so maybe when she leaves and hurt them cause this is her natural she wonder "I've never been even liked For anything truly mine" this is way she always in runing ... so she left him and this is her ... looking as you are >>> by leaving him and be her self even if he know this well happened he loves her as she were .... and now he is alone but still remember her ...

I change my mind after I saw the MV ... It's without a doubt about a girl suicide and she wasn't happy and always complains and by suicide it's look like her ........

seen a lot of debate on the net about song meaning, well 4 me, i think it obviously means he can't believe she wud commit suicide "looking as she were", obviously very pretty, happy and well on the surface which is quite oft case with folk with mh issues; yet struggle much under the skin, thus i feel this song basically explores that notion/ perhaps with someone close whom passed away by suicide despite "looking as they were"...well and happy on the surface at the time, if that makes sense!
