I'm imagining an android robot girl trying to comprehend emotion.

this is a sample from one of those 'reading rainbow' type shows, i can't remember exactly which one.

the girl is writing with a pencil, trying to phonetically sound out 'love' so she can spell it correctly. each time she says 'no', you can hear an erasing noise as she erases the word and tries again.

This is another BoC sample of a Sesame Street vignette. I also remember this one, but not very well, which makes me think that they ran it quite a bit in the early- to mid-80's. I have to skip this track when I listen to it on headphones in a quiet environment. It may be that there are some subliminal things going on. How come no one's sampled "Penny" from Pee-Wee's Playhouse? Now that was some freaky stuff: a talking chair with huge teeth, a convicted sex offender as a host, and Cuba Gooding, Jr. in a full-on cowboy outfit.

I believe it was the mighty Morpheus(lawrence fishburne), who was the always positive and silly "Cowboy Curtis". :)

im also like bocmaxima. listening to this song by yourself with headphones is intense. It's not just because of the whole horror movie cliche (little girl=scary) its beyond that.... the delay used on the voice is captivating.

I listened to this song a in complete darkness/silence in my bedroom a few days ago and found myself terrified. I find this very odd considering cichon123 and bocmaxima feel the same way. There's something to this song.

there is something to this song. notice the girl makes sequentially rising sounds (and so does the music) after each successful attempt. but this is not whats interesting whats interesting is the content, the change in psychological meanings of the same phrase used with different operators. the shift in consciousness between: i love mum (implying specifics), i love you (imply the possibility that love can be felt for others as well), and then the most important I LOVE. if you have understood my meaning in that then well done.

The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
