Fix what’s wrong, but don’t rewrite what the artist wrote. Stick to the official released version — album booklet, label site, verified lyric video, etc. If you’re guessing, pause and double-check.
Respect the structure
Songs have rhythm. Pages do too. Leave line breaks where they belong. Don’t smash things together or add extra empty space just for looks.
Punctuation counts (but vibe-editing doesn’t)
Correct typos? Yes. Re-punctuating a whole verse because it ‘looks better’? Probably not. Keep capitalization and punctuation close to the official source.
Don’t mix versions
If you’re editing the explicit version, keep it explicit. If it’s the clean version, keep it clean. No mashups.
Let the lyrics be lyrics
This isn’t the place for interpretations, memories, stories, or trivia — that’s what comments are for. Keep metadata, translations, and bracketed stage directions out unless they’re officially part of the song.
Edit lightly
If two lines are wrong… fix the two lines. No need to bulldoze the whole page. Think ‘surgical,’ not ‘remix.’
When in doubt, ask the crowd
Not sure what they’re singing in that fuzzy bridge? Drop a question in the comments and let the music nerds swarm. Someone always knows.
It might be a bit of a stretch, but the lyrics coupled with the title Field gives me the impression of two people being reunited in heaven or something. On and on together, on and on forever. It just seems to fit, atleast to me it does. Anyways, the song in itself is probably the most beautiful but simple songs I've ever had the privilege of listening to.
I had a similar thought but rather it was a dream rather than heaven, the outro almost ruins the whole thing, when I first heard this song the ending came as a bit of a surprise, but I figured it was like being stirred from a happy dream just to wake up alone or something. Short lived but beautiful.

The open-endedness of the lyrics applied to the birth-life-death nature of the music leaves it open to interpretation for truly each and every individual who listens to it. Sometimes, maybe that IS the meaning. I love everyone's ideas, and they each fit like a glove. I have loved this song for 15 years, and I'm still not ready to attempt to apply meaning to this song. It remains the most exciting (and straight-up best) song I have ever heard.
Going by the lyrics the song is obviously a love song. As for the title, I feel that since Christie Front Drive is from the midwest, seeing open fields is the pretty common. When I hear this song I think of a couple just laying in a field...On and on together..on and on forever..
