My Heart Is an Apple Lyrics

I'll admit I'm full of shit
That's how I know I love you
That's how I know I trust you,
You're not sure if there's a right or wrong
But it feels like there is when I treat you like this
I go outside
I go outside

Texas, I won't come home
Not even if you call
I can't hear you at all
I can't explain why it's a sin the state I'm living in
I just feel so tired
I go outside
I go outside

My mouth is full, your heart is an apple
My mouth is full, my heart is an apple
Pomme-pomme-pomme-pomme-pomme-pomme-pomme-pomme

Please don't even call
I can't hear you at all.

"You know how it is when your heart drops. Like a fall-bruised apple in the cold morning of autumn."

Just reading that, and remembering this song, I've never felt more like I have a rich, red and ripe apple in the center of my being.

Think of all the connections. The phrase, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." We all want a healthy heart. Apples grow and ripen and taste delicious and bruise and die and rot and each apple has the potential to grow an entire tree.

Reminds me of the video for that Death Cab song, I forget which, but where there is an animated heart that gets broken half to death until it finally does die, and from its rotten remains grows a flower.

I am most convinced that my heart is an apple, and I hope for the world's sake, that yours is too.

"My heard is an apple".... I love that. To me, the way she sings "Your mouth is full... my heart is an apple" (thats what it sounds like to me) is the best part of the song. I think it means that somebody has a "bite" of her heart, so to speak- she's so in love, it's as though someone has such a firm grip on her heart, and is "eating" at it (an apple). I love this song so much.

-_-;; Obviously it's Regine. I didn't think it sounded like her at first, which is really weird, seeing as she has such a unique style.

Can you imagine being Win's parents and reading this line:

"Texas, I won't come home Not even if you call I can't hear you at all I can't explain why it's a sin the state I'm living in i just feel so tired I go outside"

This song is heartbroken.

I love the blatant honesty.

He loves and trusts his parents, but he's got to be on his own now, and come to his own conclusions about life.

i think this song could be partly about using someone and recognizing that it's what you're doing -- eating up all of the person's love in a really gluttonous way. in this case, the narrator has enough sense or rationality to end it before it becomes a bigger problem: "please don't even call" so it makes the cut cleaner.

on the other hand, sometimes i think the whole thing is about texas and his mixed feelings toward his home state. more likely, i guess, is that it's a combination of person and place that he wants to avoid -- it's like a total escape. and he sounds so desperate and weary that it makes sense to me.

First off. Saying your heart is an apple is clearly a direct correlation to death. The rotting, the mortality in the garden of eden. The point insinuated that love is interchangable - shit! Also, Win is obviously so much more into Montreal than fuckin Bushville, Texas (as illustrated by the french word for apple, pomme pomme pomme....) of course the one line pretty much sums it up "I go outside" and the bass as well, completely vital. In concert Richard incorporates this freakin crazy -tick-tock- part when it gets quiet and he's knocking on the bass and moving his bow like the second hand of a clock. you can almost see the apple rot, from your darkened kitchen window. Arcade Fire- you so crazy!!

"my mouth is full, your heart is an apple your mouth is full, my heart is an apple" i think whoever wrote these lyrics quoted them wrong no offence....anyways, i think most arcade fire songs are about...lonelyness or something along those lines this song i think has alotof the same feeling as cars and telephones, but in a different way. my heart is an apple, your mouth is full, take take take, someone obviously keeps taking and then, they are taking back, its almost like a fight in a way, just more emotional and a mental sort of thing, trying to forget...or misunderstanding, im never sure how to explain lyrics, i just feel alot when i listen to music like the arcade fire, i can realy relate

Am I the only one who is reminded vaguely of Snow White during the part where the female (I'm assuming it's Regine?) sings? Or am I just insane?

i recently ventured into finding arcade fire b-sides and came across this amazing song which i believe is about having to make a huge change and leaving all you know behind...and maybe just following a river to your new life. (hince the running water sound effects)
