Katatonia Lyrics
I check this body in tonight
Cross my heart and hope to die
to never leave this place alive
I'm burning right in front of you
break myself against you I lay still
vain advances to another place where I can truly be myself
Respirators kicked on high
Life support keeps me alive
To forgive I will never do
one last kiss is all I need from
(You ride) salvation goin' under
(They say) they say I won't survive you now
I wish I never knew you
Your name is Katatonia
(They say) they say I won’t survive you now
(Your name) your name is sanctuary
I call you Katatonia
this is my second favorite song off exile (behind Swan Dive). I think the katatonia (catatonia is a disease that make people phase into a coma like state) is a metaphor for obsession. I think the song is about falling in love with someone you can never have, and in the end he's left hopeless. It juxtaposes lust with the disease. Amazing.
I thought it was more about starting to hate someone you love and ripping yourself up about it. (not necessarily in regret, but more in what you've lost)
i agree completely with alucard. having an unhealthy infatuation with someone causing emotional damage and otherwise
I'm pretty sure this is about drug use and abuse. "stop all my vain advances to another place where I can truly be myself respirators kicked on high life support keeps me alive to forgive i will never do one last kiss is all i need from you ride salvation goin' under they say they say I wont survive you now I wish i never knew you your name is katatonia "
about overdosing and never returning either back to normalcy or back to life. I can see the relationship thing, though. favorite strung out song.
Katatonia may refer to a girl who is damaging to you, but I think it also refers to a drug addiction. I know for a fact that Jason Cruz has experimented with drugs before, and whether or not he was ever an addict, this sounds like a first person account of an addict. They hate it, but they love it, and love usually overpowers hate, but in this case, that's bad.
It's funny isn't it? I never noticed that this song could be about drug addiction, but now that I have read it back over it's a great song that is written almost as though it is a love affair with drugs, very nice.
But when I hear this song it always makes me remember why I broke up with my Ex, and that instead of wasting 10 years of our young lives I just wish I had never known him. In the midst of mourning our dead baby and wondering how to feel like myself again, we drifted apart and no matter how much we tried we were zombies. Katatonia.
That was another lifetime ago now, but the song still gives me fire and tears. amazing song, very powerful...
The first impression related to this song was the band Katatonia. :D But the song, isn't it about catatonia itself? Just about the state of a mentally ill person? It would also make sense.
its about a love-hate relationship with drugs. per-J's own words
