I think this song, and this whole album, is him trying to sing through his depression, and that's awesome. I can just imagine him saying to himself "you are not helpless. you are not helpless"

the first time i heard this song it was really sad and depressing up until the end when there is a glimmer of hope in it that everything will be alright. it really hooked me in and makes you feel what he is singing. my favorite songs: ohia song
To me this song is one of the most uplifting and triumphant songs of all time! It brings me to my knees with tears of pain and then lifts me up and sets me soaring on tears of true joy, jubilant solidarity and understanding. The simple truth that we all feel pain and we all feel we can’t go on and that other humans have felt this way too and still we carry on and even thrive and that we genuinely care and want to help each other. Kindness is the most heartbreaking truth of all.
Its definitely a sad yet hopeful song, theres something so gorgeous about it. The background voice just adds to how beautiful it is.
