It is for me
The eventual truth
Of that look of the lioness to her man across the Nile
It is that look of the lioness to her man across the Nile

Want to feel my heart break if it must break in your jaws
Want you to lick my blood off your paws

You can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
I will swim to you
I will swim to you
I will swim to you
I will swim to you

Whether you save me
Whether you savage me
Want my last look to be the moon in your eyes
Want my heart to break if it must break in your jaws
Want you to lick my blood off your paws

It is for me
The eventual truth
It is that look of the lioness to her man across the Nile
It is that look of the lioness to her man across the Nile
And you can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
You can't get here fast enough
I will swim to you
I will swim to you
I will swim to you
I will swim to you
I will swim to you, to you
I will swim to you

I just found this song. I think it's about putting your trust in somebody so implicitly because you love them, that no matter what might happen to you in their hands - like if they break your heart... then it's like, if he was going to get his heart broken, he'd want it to be by her. "whether you save you me whether you savage me " or... actually... thinking about it... "wanna feel my heart break if it must break in your jaws" could also mean that his heart WILL be broken in her (metaphorical, presumably) jaws, and if it happens, he wants to be able to feel it. dunno quite what that would mean...

I don't think it's necessarily about the predatory nature of women. In general men really are more predatory. I like to think he's talking about a specific "lioness" and it's more a comment on her than all of women.

What I love about this song is that it puts simply, the basics of courting/passion. A person can take a billion cliche love settings/situations or what would be deemed "romantic" for the present times and fill billions of tunes with those useless words, however none of those would even compare to this song. So simple. So beautiful. So true. This song says everything that needs to be said about attraction without overdoing it.

Although I guess the whole album has quite a theme of predatory women so I guess it's probably about women in general.

Did you ever think he was speaking literally? Maybe he actually has sexual fantasies about lionesses and he wants to try to engage in sexual intercourse with one but he is afraid he will be torn apart. If you don't think that's what he's writing about, then you're probably right. I don't think that's what he is writing about either, but it would be interesting if it was.

I heard Mr. Molina gets angry if you request him to play this at his shows. Does anyone know anything about this?
