The Atrocity Lyrics

i don't wanna die
don't expect me to die
i've got my enemies
within my sight
we're looking through a stained glass genocide

i don't wanna die
don't expect me to die
what's joy without the tears
filling our eyes?
memories of a perfect time

we dream of nothing
or so we say
we dream of discovering
a perfect trail
to the answers that will seal our pale faces

that can't happen now
it's flickering out
will we meet again?
i hope, somehow
even if we pass you on your way out

i don't wanna die
don't expect me to die
we can live forever
i don't wanna die
don't expect me to die
we can live forever

I think it's a lot more simple than what you guys are saying. To me it's about the human desires of wanting to find the meaning of life (the answers that will seal our pale faces), and not wanting to die.

Whoops, didn't realised this song was under the title "atrocity", I posted this under "the atrocity"

"I think this song is a pretty moving one, surprised no-one's commented. Well the bonus track on Pause it and turn it up, and machines, I think are both about the death of Simon's mother. I think this song is also on the same thing, but more about a denial of death, the "I don't want to die" line being especially obvious, but also the "we can live forever" being a further denial of the finitude of death.

"we dream of nothing or so we say we dream of discovering a perfect trail"

Perhaps my favourite lyric of the song, I think he doesn't truly believes in an afterlife as he "dream[s] of nothing", but dreams of finding a belief.

"Will we meet again? I hope somehow."

Really moves me from that point onwards. Great emotional song, and if you think about it a bit has a moving meaning.

why has no one made a post

Although short, this song is amazing. In the war climate of today the atrocity means the way in which various governments took part in the war on terror. I dont wanna die. That says it all. I dont believe for a second that there is one person out there saw what happened in the world and didnt think, this could be it. infinty land is full of hintings at the war.

This depresses me but also helped me open my eyes to the terror unleashed upon common man. Towers falling and planes bombing kill millions, but its the mental attack upon billions by both sides that really take the toll.

this has nothing political about it

I'd say it was rather obvious that the song is about his mum, who died just before/during the recording of the album.

'stained glass genocide' think about it, stained glass - church, genocide - killings en masse, maybe he's talking of lots of family members dying?

maybe its about someone who was suicidal, who dreamed of nothing, who wanted to die... but now hes found someone...someone he thinks will be a "perfect trail" to answers of lives questions, that will "seal our pale faces", as in shut us up, stop us moaning and complaining about everything... but his dreams cant happen because "its flickering out"...the life of the person he loves that is... perhaps she wants him to come with her, but he is in denial - he is saying "no i dont want to die, we'll live forever", though he knows in his heart that she cant...but he hopes to meet her again one day... I don't know if that will make much sense to anyone else, but it works for me. I love the emotion for the "I don't wanna die, don't expect me to die. We can live forever!" When I am lying in my boyfriends arms those words pop into my head, which is really what led me to this meaning... =] Love the song, though, whatever the meaning!
