This song is amazing. I think its a guy talking about how much he loves this girl, no matter what. That he will love her until he dies. He will do anything for her. He will protect her .... a great rock love song!
Try and listen to the text abit more, don't jump into the conclusion it's about a girl right away, if you ask me, I think it's strictly about Mary-Jane or and Alcohol. Might not be, but with this in mind read the text again. It does fit dosen't it?

What mainly makes me believe this is the line, "A lot of people gonna be disappointed when they find out I love you, and I need you." That line made it difficult to see as a girl for me.
Well all of their songs are left for pretty vast interpretation, so if you ask me, I'd say he was gay. ^^
Been there..done that. Forbidden love but it is undeniable. A very strong bond. He can't let go of the love and won't. Whether together or not, she will always be in his thoughts and heart.

A relationship with someone his family/friends disapprove of is what makes the most sense to me. I think it being about drugs is an interesting theory, but some of the lyrics don't really seem to fit.
What they disapprove of/are disappointed by, I'm not sure. It sounds sorta like he's holding on to a relationship that's pretty much over and people are disappointed that he's not letting go. Or possibly the person he loved died, and he's not moving on?
Or it could just be a relationship that's forbidden for whatever reason--I agree with spike69 that he could be gay. Aside from their songs all being open to interpretation, none of them mention a female in any way--no "she" or "her" or "girl" or anything, it's always "you".
I feel like the title is the key. It seems to have nothing to do with the song, but I think it's gotta mean something.
The title does go with the song if you think of it as a girl and racial differences. Many people still have problems with interracial relationships. The line "A lot of people gonna be disappointed when they find out I love you and I need you." could easily be referring to a girlfriend of a different race.
i personally know the guy who wrote this song and alot of other olr songs and this is what he said its about...his girlfriend left him bc of something terrible he did and no matter how hard he tried she wouldnt take him back and despite what evryone thought about him,he said he will always love her
ethan4804, i was reading everyone elses comments on the bud and everything and i was thinking to myself "my God man! they are right!", but when you said that, i was like "thats more like it ;)" it fits in there perfect. I do understand that in a way, although i am not living through the emotions, and that could make all of the difference between seeing something as stupid or suicidal. But good job man, it works!
