Something Borrowed, Something Blue Lyrics

Polystyrene, I wanna daydream, I need an enemy to get me through,
Prodigal sunscreen, our love's a guillotine, something borrowed, something blue.
Another ship sunk, family tree trunk, deep scar diving, I look for you,
And we're hoping and we're choking, something borrowed, something blue.

I get the feeling I could leave you on the interstate,
I get the feeling like I just broke through.
I get the feeling like you never mattered anyway,
Something borrowed, something blue.

It gets harder, my father, the weight you manage and the damage too,
Polystyrene, I wanna daydream, something borrowed, something...

I get the feeling I could leave you on the interstate,
I get the feeling like I just broke through.
I get the feeling like you never mattered anyway,
Something borrowed, something...
I get the feeling I could leave you on the interstate,
I get the feeling like I just broke through.
I get the feeling like you never mattered anyway,
Something borrowed, something blue; something borrowed, something blue,
Something borrowed, something blue; something borrowed, something blue.

Ten floors, I'm falling, guess who I'm recalling?
Oh yeah, it's true, my life begins and ends with you.

I get the feeling I could leave you on the interstate,
I get the feeling like I just broke through.
I get the feeling like you never mattered anyway,
Something borrowed, something...
I get the feeling I could leave you on the interstate,
I get the feeling like I just broke through.
I get the feeling like you never mattered anyway,
Something borrowed, something blue; something borrowed, something blue,
Something borrowed, something blue; something borrowed, something blue.

i really get the feeling that this means he's committing suicide, that is, jumping off a building. he's thinking of her, i guess they just broke up and hes totally depressed... his life began when he met her, and now hes ending it because of her, i dunno lol

I think Ben Lee is a poor singer, but occasionaly a song comes along from him that works. "Something Borrowed, Something Blue" is one of them. He should stick to the talk-singing used in this song.

One comment? What the hell? I suppose everyone is busy commenting on "catch my disease" This song is fantastic..this is Ben at his best.

its a relationship where the people always end up hurting each other but they need each other anyways. everytime he thinks its over he realizes "my life begins and ends with you" which may not necessarily be a good thing. but its hard to leave the relationship.
idk thats what i think of.

Adore this song. I just wish I could get deeper into it, lyrically. I have no idea really what he means with "I get the feeling I could leave you on the interstate..." Maybe as though he sometimes thinks he could just abandon her and that their love is not true, only on borrowed time. I'm reaching here...haha!

well, the "something borrowed, something blue" phrase is obviously referring to the wedding tradition. i think it's repeated because their love has become repetitive and like a tradition rather than exciting and new. he's coming to the point where he is realizing that, although his life "begins and ends" with her (she is all he can remember in his life), it's not going to work. he has to, and NEEDS to, leave her "on the interstate."

I love this song!!! I'm not really a Ben Lee fan but this song is by far his best.

Ten floors, I'm falling, guess who I'm recalling? Oh yeah, it's true, my life begins and ends with you.

That is my favourite part. I think "thatpartydress" was spot on with their comment.
