i dot usually like odes to california, there are far too many of them, but i like this one i heard it live first. if anyone has an oportunity to see her live it is breathtaking
This is absolutely about her and Stephen Jenkins, the THIRD EYE BLIND lead singer, who has lived in San Francisco for a long time. He takes her to his house where he used to live with Charlize Theron ("I know what you did in San Francisco"). But, she still goes there and and moves in with him knowing what he has done in the house she says "We're back and you tell me I am home." Steven Jenkins convinces her that Vanessa is the only one now.

this past summer i went with my friend to san francisco. the song white houses reminds me of her a lot because she had a boyfriend over the summer that she nearly lost it to and she starves herself (the part "i'm way too skinny") so its weird because vanessas songs are so much like what happened over the summer for my friend but iono thats my dumb story

I live in sacramento wich is about an hous and half from san fransisco...it is by far the best city in california...tied for my favorite city with New York and its wonderful there.

I'm not really sure what this song means... Whenever i listen to it, i think of summer. its really good though
